Italics are Romie
Normal writng : narrator
I recall driving around aimlessly, with no direction in mind, just me and her, i loved every second of that car ride,we didn't talk and we didn't have too, just being in each other's presence made it all okay.
"Wanna get something to eat,my treat"
"Yup, where do you wanna go"
"Pizza hut"
We drove to pizza hut, i was a vegeterian, i couldn't get a burger, well at least not in here, we don't have vegan burgers, matter of fact we don't have any vegan food, not to eat meat was a sign of disrespect and made you look ungrateful, but i didn''t care and i was glad she actually remembered.
She pulled out a credit card out of her baggy jean jacket, and winked at me
"come on,lets go"
"It's not legal for you to have a credit card"
"Yeah, well it's not legal for you to drive"
"Touché, where did you get it from anyways ?"
"My dad"
"You stole your dad's credit card!!"
"You stole your dad's car" she pointed out
"I didn't steal it, i borrowed it"
"Sure you did, but no i didn't steal it, my poor excuse of a dad was so eager to leave that he dropped it"
"Well, what do you plan on doing with it"
"Spend it all and plus he's got plenty of other cards, im sure he can manage" she winked
I have never seen this side of her, the adventurous one, i always knew she had it in her and plus i don't blame her, i would've done the same thing, i mean if i can steal my dad's car, she can steal her dad's credit card or "borrow", i guess we all have in us we just need the right person to bring it out, and Romie was that person.
"what do you want"
i gave her a pointed look, did she actually forget
"Im just messing with you, i know you are a vegeterian"
We took the food and left for the beach, we sat on the hood of my dad's car, ate our food in peace, we didn't talk but it wasn't awkward, it was comforting and relaxing. It was amazing to have somebody like that,we didn't have to speak to communicate and i find that special.
I still remember every aspect of that night, from the bad jokes and uncontrollable laughter to deep conversations and a heart warming walk past memory lane.
I memorized the way her eyes light up every time i would bring up and old memory about us,she would laugh and shake her head and look at me with that sweet half smile of hers,or the way she would hold my hand tightly and whisper to me " it's me and you against the world". I treasure in my mind everything about her, from her smile to her eyes, from her laughs and giggles to her soothing voice, we all have a home, a place to go to when we feel unsafe and blue, well she was my home.
I remember after finishing our food, we layed on the hood of my dad's car and star gazed, we named each stare, gave them their own story, tried to make shapes and connect the dots with them,we talked about nothing and everything, and i loved every second of it, hoping that it would last forever.
"Can i tell you something ?" Romie rose up and crossed her legs
"What like a secret, you know there are no secrets between us" i rose up,crossing my legs as well
"I know,it's not just a secret"
"Your scaring me"
She looked up, her eyes wide, worry written all over her face
"I like girls".
