Italics are Romie
Normal writing : narrator
Three days before our adventure,Romie cut her long hair, i was suprised but i didn't ask, i was also hurt because she didn't tell me about it, i had to hear it from my friends ; should've known it was a sign.
Romie never liked a guy execpt for one and i have never heard of him since my break up scandal, whenever we would talk about celebs, she would always gush about the girls, but i thought it was normal,i mean we're all a little gay for Ruby Rose, but it wasn't just about them, it was about classmates, friends and strangers, i thought it was pretty neutral to appreciate girls,im all about girl power, and i should've realised that it wasn't just girl power to her, it was attraction, she liked girls and frenquely i was okay with it.
I can't imagine the confusion she had to go through, figuring out who you are is never easy, we spend all our teenage years figuring ourselfes out, from preferences to sexualities.
I understand why she was worried, afraid of my reaction,we grew up in a society where girls like boys and boys like girls and in order to have sexual intercouses you have to get married,no drinking or smoking, we had to be perfect,no wonder we're all fucked up.
I detected that something was off about her, i just never acted on that thought, i was still staring at her, speechless, deep down i knew it, so why was i suprised,i always hear about friends coming out to other friends, but never in a million would i expect it to happen to me.
Two weeks before Romie's confession, two girls were sent to jail for act of lesbianisme, they got 3 years in jail, the story was that this two girls were kissing and one of the girl's cousin took a picture of them and showed it to her aunt, her aunt was furious, not even thinking what she was going to do to those girls'future, she stormed off, headed to the police station, displaying the picture, she was yelling, screaming, claiming it was a sin,and act of terrorisme, spluring uncoherent words, shouting that they should be locked up, and they were arrested. They were sixteen and seventeen. No wonder why she was freaking out, and me being quiet wasn't helping our situation, but i couldn't bring myself to speak, i breathed in and breathed out trying to find the right words but my mind was blank.
"Yeah and i like boys, why are we stating the obvious ?" i asked trying to look natural but i was losing it
"Wait, so you don't mind"
"No, it's your life,i mean you don't mind me be being straight" i took a bite of the last remaining slice of pizza
"Oh my god, i can't believe it"
"Well you should, i mean look at it from my point of view, i didn't come out to you as straight so why do you have to do it"
"Wait, you knew i was gay" she said, her eyes wide
"Well i mean you cut you hair" i shrugged
It was another sign i failed to notice
"That's stereotypicale" she pointed out
"Sure, and let's not forget about the flannels " i pointed out
"Oh, shut up" she laughed
That laugh made everything go back to normal, no more secrets and no more confessions
"Since you told me your biggest deepest secret, is there anything else you want to tell me ?" i asked
"Well, you know Rowan right?"
And hated her too
"Yup"
"Well, don't freak out"
"I won't, scouts' honnor"
"You were never a scouts girl"
"Not the point and stop trying to change the subject, you already said too much"
"I have a crush on her."
