Charlie

I told Trevor to follow a boy in our class and sprinted off. Two pairs of footsteps were following me outside, so I turned around in anger.

"Trevor, what are you doing?!"

"Curiosity got the better of me," he replied and smirked.

"This is none of your business," I spat.

"I don't care; you seem genuinely upset! I want to know what's wrong."

"You're not the only one who's left in the dark. I got a text from Raymond just now telling me to get Charlie and that it's urgent," Matt said.

"Good morning. What are all of you doing out here in the middle of the school day?" Raymond asked casually as he appeared from around a corner, dressed in a crumpled tuxedo, smudged with dust and dirt.

"What's going on?" I asked and tried to hide the worry in my voice.

"I think you two puppies should go back inside and enjoy class. Me and my brother have a rather urgent conversation to get over with." There was an icy undertone in Raymond's voice that brook no argument. I smirked. My brother might be an arse, but he was the most stuck up and commanding arse I knew, and the few times his attitude was directed towards others than myself, I took great pleasure in it.

"It's no good when he talks like that," Matt muttered, and the boys went back inside defeatedly.

* * *

"You actually went there?" Raymond nodded. "And I thought I was the reckless one," I exclaimed. We sat on a bench outside school, neither appreciating nor truly minding the beautiful world around us.

"I didn't actually have a choice," Raymond answered with a tired sigh that made him sound like an old man.

"But... God, Raymond!" I scratched my stomach as memories of the last time floated to the top of my consciousness.

"You got the invite too, I assume," he said, changing the subject.

"Of course. I was convinced that you would ignore it. What happened to your tuxedo anyway?"

"They disappointed me by actually throwing me out of that damned car while driving. Where's the gallantry in that?" He shook his head in exasperation.

"But why did you have to wear that one? It was a gift from mum!" He just shrugged half-heartedly. "What are they up to, anyway?"

"Oh, much the same. They still want to know where he is, or money, but I just told them the same old song - no danger there. They didn't like the tune of it though. They never knew how to hide their emotions, and they never will, I fear."

"Hopeless case, those men. Not everyone can be like us though. It's a shame really."

"My thoughts exactly. How was Trevor today?" It was obvious that Raymond was tired of the subject and the night's events.

"He's doing fine, as I expected. I might go as far as to say that he's become the new Mr Sex."

"Are you jealous?" Raymond asked and a bark of laughter escaped him, releasing some of the nervous tension inside. "He's not at all like you and me, is he?"

"No, but then again, who is?"

"Who indeed."

"Was mum there?" I asked after a bit.

"No, I haven't seen or talked to her for a month or so," he replied, gazing out on the alternative world that was our existence.

"What are they going to do, Raymond? They're not getting desperate, are they? What will they do next, why are they contacting us now? It's been years since last time! I almost thought it was over."

"It is never over," Raymond muttered. "Do you seriously think they would talk about their plans with me there anyway? I gather that they're desperate enough to meet up again, but not to do anything dramatic." Yet.

"They didn't try anything on you?" The last meeting was still, quite literally, etched into my skin.

"No, they couldn't possibly do that when only one of us were there. The other one would know, it would be too risky."

"Of course. Tell me the next time you decide to do something completely stupid though, will you? I can't suffer... that... again, even though I find you quite exasperating."

"Of course" he promised. I knew he wouldn't do it, it was just who he was. Not that I would tell him if it was the other way around.

Alright! What do you think? Was this a bit too obscure and confusing? That was the point, but if it didn't sound right at all I'd appreciate some help to improve the scene.
