Leonora Diggory, wasn't mean.

Nor was she considered to be unkind.

Sometimes, however, her actions could give the sense of ignorance to the feelings of others.

Perhaps, it was her coming from a big family, or maybe she took being sorted into Gryffindor, house of the brave, truly to heart.

Or possibly, she thought she was doing what was best at the time, not accounting for the future, for the future could wait.

Yet, one thing was certain,

she never meant to hurt him.

September first, 1913, was a hectic morning in the Diggory household, and Leonora wasn't excused from the frenzy that  was her family's wild searching for misplaced items that should have been packed days ago.

"Mum, I can't find my case! I swear I put it under my-oh, never mind!" Came her youngest sister's adenoidal voice, and Leonora watched as she ran across the pine landing before darting down the stairs with her blue box catching at the end of her flowing nightgown.

"Wheres the bloody hairbrush?" Whined her second in command, Mary, who stared at her reflection in the mirror on the old fashioned wooden dresser, delicate fingers combing through thick webs of hair.

Leonora arose from the warmth of her bed, swapping the soft, lemon blankets for a silky red dressing gown.

Padding over the cool, creaking flooring towards the tall white wardrobe that held all 5 girl's clothes, she reached above it and felt for the hairbrush.

"Here, you numpty." Leonora laughed, swiftly hitting the fourteen year old Mary on the back of the head with it.

With Marys words of various insults in the background, Leonora stretched out her arms above her head with a yawn before heading down the stairs with bare feet.

The sweet smell of syrupy porridge made Leonora's nose twitch as she grinned, crossing the small hallway to the kitchen.

"Morning," She greeted, dodging the dishes that were washing themselves and going around the  hectic table to reach for the toast. She looked outside the small kitchen window, passed the small potted fly trap and towards the forest.

"Oh, weather looks good today, we might be able to play some quidditch before we go, huh, da?" Asked Leonora, who spun around quickly to grab her now self buttered toast.

"Absolutely not! With all of Dorothy's missing things and whatnot, there will be no time to lose on finding it all! You and your sisters'd better help, too." Her mother replied in a grating voice, her greying hair loosening from its plait as she shook her head, large brown eyes narrowed at Leonora as she refilled her father's cup with tea.

"Well thats Dorothy's problem, not mine," Leonora argued back, finishing her toast with loud, obnoxious crunches to annoy her mother even further.

"Oh, don't you start," Her mother warned, wagging her finger in Leonora's direction making the twins, Dotty and Florence, giggle at Leonora's misfortune. "I remember your first day at Hogwarts and the fright was eating away at you."

Leonora grimaced, shaking her head as she stepped towards the door.

"You seem to be forgetting one thing that sets poor little Dorothy here and I apart... I'm a Gryffindor and she'll probably be something boring, like Ravenclaw or something!" Leonora laughed as she ran up the stairs towards her and Mary's shared bedroom, leaving the cries of indignation  behind.

"Did you say 'boring' and 'Ravenclaw' in the same sentence, because that just doesn't sit right with me unless the sentence was 'oh, I'm so boring, I wish I was a Ravenclaw!'" Mary feigned annoyance at her older sister's antics as she tied a lace ribbon around her waist.

"Oh, hush up, you know I only said that because ma was a Ravenclaw," Leonora said, pulling at Mary's long auburn hair.

Mary pulled away from Leonora and met her eyes in the mirror with a glare. She took hold of her cream case and left the room in a huff.

Leonora rolled her eyes with a smile and turned towards her suitcase, grinning.

"Oh, Hogwarts hasn't seen anything yet."
