Leonora G. Diggory,

☽☽☽

News traveled quickly of the two's courtship, and Leonora was quick to jump at the chance to brag up Newt to anyone who would listen.

"He really is wonderful," She said, with a dopey smile on her face as she and Ruth watched him in the library, pretending to be studying Transfiguration.

Newt was wandering around the large library, picking out random books from the seemingly endless rows of books,  and adding them to a pile on his arm. He wasn't wearing his robes, leaving just his shirt that's sleeves were rolled up to the elbows and black dress trousers.

Leonora did have to admit, he did look pretty great.

Leonora sat at a table in the corner, elbows resting on an open book and tickling her own nose with the quill she was supposed to be writing with. Ruth sat beside her, eyes narrowed as she tried to pick a fault with him.

The blonde sighed, giving up: "Leonora, I've heard all about him now, would you please stop? What makes him so special?"

Leonora sighed, a false look of disappointment on her face as she looked back down at her book, which had nothing written on it as of yet. Ruth rolled her eyes, smiling as she flipped open her own study book.

"You're like a lovesick puppy, it's truly unhealthy," Ruth joked, a look of exaggerated disappointment gracing her features, making Leonora chuckle and throw a crumpled piece of paper at the other girls face.

"Shut up..." She said, before glancing back up to Newt, who was now walking down another aisle, a trail of floating books behind him.

"Lesson one, wait, would it be a lesson?" Leonora asked as her and Newt sat beneath the oak tree once more, the pale moonlight lighting a cool glow over the calm lake and casting ghostly shadows across her and Newt's faces in the dark. The sky was a glitter spilled canvas, with grey paint strokes of cloud and black stamps were the silhouette of the forest that swayed gently in the breeze.

"I think task is a better fitted word," Newt offered, nodding as he sat with his knees to his chest, holding them to savour the warmth that his body emitted.

Leonora 'aaahed' and nodded, pointing at him proudly.

"Task one of getting known: complete," Leonora said, pacing the frosty grass confidently, enjoying the crunching noise the grass made whenever she stood on it.

"Whats task two?" Asked Newt, eyebrows knitted together.

Her crunching footsteps stopped momentarily, before continuing at the same pace.

"You're going to become a dream boyfriend." Leonora said, and Newt actually laughed at the ridiculousness of that, before realising she was serious.

"You're serious?" He said, mouth hanging open in surprise.

"Dead," She nodded, green eyes practically glowing in the pale moonlight. Newt raised his eyebrows with a gulp.

"And what does that task include?"

"Over the next few months, I'll teach you all the things what to do and what not to do on a date, how to treat a girl right, and make you a master of complimenting vocabulary," She said, crossing her arms as she stood still on the grass, and Newt suddenly felt very nervous.

"What if Leta doesn't like what you like?" He asked, and Leonora grinned, sitting down in front of him.

"Listen, Newt; one thing all girls have in common is how they want to be treated by men. Leta will love you." She said, patting him on the shoulder and smirking as she said the boys crush.

Newt blushed but grinned none the less, nodding as he did so, suddenly excited for the next few months to come.

"Task two part two, is me talking to Leta about you, making sure she knows you're wonderful and yada yada yada," Leonora said, gesturing back and forth with her hands. Newt blushed at her back handed compliment, even if she didn't actually think it were true.

They settled into a silence after this, listening to the wind as it howled in their ears. Leonora looked up at the familiar dark castle, that was lighted by many torches that flickered when the wind caught the flame. The tall walls that built what had been her second home for many years looked positively beautiful in the limited light.

"So, tell me about this Leta," Leonora asked, breaking the silence as she looked at Newt, who was staring up at the castle too, a contended smile on his lips.

"She's a Slytherin, and she's really beautiful. She's so kind and funny, she loves beasts too-" Newt went on about Leta with a smile, but, the truth was, Leonora was studying Newt.

She stared at how his ashy blonde curls spilled over his forehead, just nearing his almost yellow blue eyes that sparkled in the moonlight, how his dusted pink cheeks were sprinkled with stars and constellations that were his freckles, how his aristocratic nose was tinted a dull rose with the cold, and how his lips moved when he spoke with a smile.

Newt finished his sentence, looking at Leonora for a reply, breaking the Gryffindor out of her stare with an awkward cough.

"Sounds lovely," She said with a smile, nodding as if she had been listening. She couldnt help but wonder why Newt had never had a girlfriend, because he was definitely attractive. He seemed sweet, too, but Leonora guessed she couldn't judge a book by its cover.

"Mmmhmm," Newt agreed, nodding with a pleasant sigh, burying his nose in his scarf as they lapsed into a comfortable silence once more.

"You're actually quite attractive."

Newt spluttered, looking to Leonora for an excuse that wouldn't come. She was just sitting there, staring at him with a completely straight face, leaning on her hand nonchalantly.

"Thank you," He said after a moment of embarrassment, and Leonora could sense the uncomfortable aura now between them, so decided to clear it with a conversation about her day, only asking Newt questions she thought he wouldn't mind answering, which Newt was thankful for. The conversation soon spiralled into other things, making them both laugh and smile in turn; and after a while of chatting about whatever came to minds, when their watches struck midnight, they decided that they should go to bed, to avoid getting into trouble, and so they walked back to the castle and went their separate ways, both of them with smiles on their faces.
