BOOK 1: SECRETS VS SCANDALS

PROLOGUE

BECKY'S POV

"BYE MUM" I said, after receiving the usual lecture to stay safe. I was going for one of my Tuesday evening rides on my precious bicycle. I took Buddy, my dog along with me.

The breeze blew my hair across my face and I smiled. The weather seemed cool. I pedalled faster with Buddy running along. Then a heavy wind caused my hair to whip across my face. It was going to rain soon. I decided to turn home but then I heard a gunshot!

What?

I quickly got off my bicycle, grabbed Buddy and together we hid behind a bush.

Grateful it hid us well!

Then I heard voices...Thankfully, Buddy kept quiet..

"We have to get her son! Although I'm sure he'll be so shocked to know his mother's dead!"

I peeped out to see the culprits. They were just boys probably around my age but looked extremely dangerous. The one who spoke wore a baggy blue shirt,grey faded jeans and red running shoes....

Um? Who dresses this way?

My eyes moved over to the next guy who was wearing faded blue baggy pants and rainbow-coloured T-shirt... Oh well!

"Yes. Serves him right..That bastard". The rainbow shirt guy said,laughing evilly. He kicked something on the floor and I gasped as I saw a dead body.

Oh my God!

Then unfortunately, a snake passed by and Buddy barked out loud.

"Who's that?" They turned around.

Oh oh!

"Shhh!" I whispered to my restless dog. Quietly, I picked up Buddy who was now quiet. My bicycle made a creaking sound as I tried to pull it out of a thorn bush. I silently hoped that my bicycle was still in mint condition as I heard their footsteps nearing me.

I can do this!

With Buddy safely in the bicycle's basket, I got on my bicycle and began pedalling away. Then the sounds of footsteps thumping loudly after me was evident...

They were hot on my heels...
