juliet sat nervously in between two large soldiers who were assigned to protect her and her father while they journeyed in the large jeep to the main camp in italy. agent carter was in the jeep ahead of them, and juliet was glad that there would be another woman at the camp other than herself. she was excited, but she couldn't help it as her right leg rapidly bounced due to her nerves. this was the first time she was seeing bucky after two months, and her mind was creating different scenarios on how their reunion would play out.

would he be just as excited to see her? hell, would he recognize her?

she quickly snapped herself out of her pathetic thoughts, silently scolding herself for even asking such a stupid question. it was the same bucky she had known and relied on for almost 15 years— of course he'd recognize her.

her heart started to beat faster as her father informed her that they were approaching the camp. juliet couldn't understand why she was so nervous to see bucky. she assumed it was because she was about to be reunited with a huge part of her life after so long without him, but deep down, juliet knew there was more to it than that.

before she could further analyze her feelings, she noticed the car had come to a stop, and the other three people in the car were exiting it. she looked out the tinted windows and saw that almost all the men at the camp had dropped everything and surrounded the car. once they noticed it was colonel petrova, they all looked down in respect and saluted the widely-known colonel.

juliet's father smiled in confidence and commanded the soldiers to remain at ease. immediately, they all followed his orders and let their arms rest at their sides. her father began to make his way to the largest tent in the center of the whole base without looking back at juliet. earlier, he had informed juliet of which tent she was to stay in and explained to her that he wouldn't be with her very much.

she didn't exactly know how to feel about this. she was disappointed, that was a fact. she rarely saw her father as is, and finally she had the chance to be with him. or so she thought. juliet's mood plummeted when she realized that not only was she being restrained, but she was also going to be alone most of the time.

until the thought of bucky crossed her mind.

she looked up and eagerly searched for bucky through the sea of men, only to come up empty-handed. the crowd started to disperse, so she hoped that this would aide her while looking for bucky, yet she still couldn't find him. she immediately started to assume the worst. what if bucky was injured? what if he was—

"juliet?"

juliet felt a zoo of emotions— relief, anxiety, glee— all because of that one word. she turned around, and before she knew it, she was being tightly embraced by his lean figure.as cliche as it was, everything seemed to be right in the world. the stress of the war, her worry for steve, the danger of being so close to the warzone— it all seemed to vanish once her body was being wrapped into the sense of familiarity, safety, and comfort that came along with bucky. she felt the warmth and familiarity that she had been deprived of for so long, and she couldn't help but bury her face further into his chest.

she hadn't even noticed she was crying until she felt her wet tears soak bucky's soft clothes. she pulled back and looked up at him, softly laughing with puffy eyes and tears cascading down her blushing cheeks.
