juliet [b.b.]

juliet sat in awe as she watched steve exit the machine as a new man. he was much taller, more lean, and he had gained so much muscle where it had just been skin and bones. she had to make sure she wasn't drooling as she continued to watch on from the gallery.

the men started to exit the room to come closer to the world's first super soldier, and juliet herself was intent on joining them, when she noticed one man stay back. his glasses slid down his nose as he conspicuously pulled something out of his pocket. she suspiciously turned to him however before anything could be said, he quickly walked passed her. she shrugged off his strange behavior, and continued her descent from the stairs towards her best friend.

"steve!" she yelled across the sea of people to get his attention.

she smiled to herself at his awkward exchange with the gorgeous peggy carter. he then turned towards her and smiled down at his only sense of familiarity. "jules!"

she made her way towards him through the crowded amount of elated people. some were congratulating dr. erskine, others were simply looking on in glee that america finally had a chance against germany. she even noticed her father smiling so widely and boasting about steve to the senator. once juliet had reached steve, she started to joke as he put a tight white shirt over his glistening torso. "wow, i never thought i'd see the day wh—"

she was cut off by an earth-rumbling explosion, and she could hear glass shattering. soon after, she could feel her skin being cut by the tiny shards of said glass, and she ducked along with the others surrounding her. the pain soon subsided when she felt her body being covered and protected by steve's much larger one.

once the chaos had died down, she looked up and noticed the suspicious man from earlier grab the last remaining vile of dr. erskine's blue super solider serum. she yelled to get everyone's attention, and she saw dr. erskine himself command the man to stop, but she jumped back in shock as the man pulled out his gun, and shot the doctor two times in the chest. 

juliet's eyes widened as she witnessed the murder of a good man right in front of her eyes. she turned to look at steve, who had a look of despair written on his features. he ran towards the doctor, but juliet stood where she was, not having a damn clue what to do.

she saw the man begin his ascent up the stairs, but he was effectively slowed down by agent carter, as she shot him in the leg. juliet looked at peggy in admiration as she dashed up the stairs and chased after the murderer, not once skipping a beat.

juliet let out the breath she was holding, and turned, only to flinch back in surprise as a blur of white ran passed her and up the stairs right behind agent carter. it took a few moments, but it finally clicked that it was steve, and juliet had to blink a few times in surprise at steve's new abilities.

"juliet!" a deep voice yelled, and juliet turned to see her father rushing towards her. she jogged towards him, and stopped when his large and calloused hands cupped her full cheeks. his eyes desperately ran across her soft face, and he worriedly looked for any sign of harm.

"are you alright? did the glass cut you? what about your hea—"

"papa, i'm fine, i'm fine. i just... an innocent man just died right now, and this isn't gonna stop. i need to help our country out. i can't stay here." she started with a determined look on her face. last night, her father had denied her wishes, immediately shutting down the idea of her enlisting. he didn't want to argue with her, but he claimed his reasons were valid enough for not wanting her in harm's way.

"damn right, you can't stay here." he said angrily. juliet  doubled over in surprise and glee. had her father just agreed to her enlisting?

"no, you're not enlisting, but you will be at the bases and camps with me, where i can keep a constant watch over you. they know who you are and what you are to me. you're not safe here in brooklyn."

juliet had to take a moment to process all this information once more. she didn't know whether to feel satisfied that her wishes were being somewhat fulfilled or to feel annoyed that she was simply her dad's "plus-one". her father seemed to notice the conflicted frown on her face, for he softened his scowl, and wrapped his arm around her petite frame. 

"if it helps, мой свет, you'll be staying at our main base which is also the one-o-seventh's camp."

she looked up, her eyebrows furrowing in thoughtfulness and excitement. "you mean—"

"you'll be with james again." he nodded in reassurance, and he could feel himself smile at his daughter's happiness at the mention of bucky.

"but what about steve?" she suddenly asked.

"steve will be handled by colonel phillips and i, though i must say that he's probably going to have to stay here in brooklyn."

"papa, no!" she suddenly exclaimed.

"juliet—" he sighed.

"no, papa, you can't do that to steve. he's wanted this for so long. he went through boot-camp, he trained along with everyone else. he was even a lab-rat for an experiment that could have most-definitely killed him, but he was actually successful. you can't just toss him to the side like that." she explained with a fire that could only be seen when she defended steve.

"i... i'll see what i can do. i make no promises, juliet, but i will try my best to make sure he contributes to the war somehow." he replied slowly.

juliet nodded in gratitude, and turned her focus back to what was going on around her. she noticed the glass had been cleaned up, and dr. erskine's body was no longer laying on the floor. everyone in the lab had gotten back to work, immediately trying to conjure up the super solider formula once again, but she could see that it was highly unlikely without the deceased doctor.

suddenly, the door flew open, and steve determinedly walked down the stairs, his hair and clothing dripping wet. he walked towards colonel phillips and senator brandt. everyone watched the super soldier's move. his gaze was unwavering and his brows were furrowed in concentration. 

"tell me what you know about hydra."

note. i finally updated after forever. so we're getting closer and closer to bucky and juliet being reunited, and i can't wait !! also i wrote this to take my mind off the fact that the election is going on rn and trump is in the lead yikes yikes yikes. anyway hope u guys liked this !! also i think there's a change in fc for juliet— originally it was astrid berges frisbey, but i'm stuck between changing it to lily collins or adelaide kane. so pls let me know by commenting !! ik most ignore these an's but this is srs bc i may go back and include gifs & stuff so pls help ya girl out !!
