Baby sitting

"Shhh" you cooed to your 7 month old niece as you carried her into HQ, hoping no one would care.

Your sister, who was off with some friends for the week she gave you her kid to babysit, bad timing, right when the Kira investigation was going on. It was 4:30 am you had some work to catch up on so coming in this early was ok in this situation. You walked in and saw L sitting on the floor in front of his laptop as he watched the screens aimlessly.

"Morning Eyebags" you said.

"Good morning cookie" he replied.

"That was one time..."

He laughed at the memory of your tremendous baking fail a few weeks ago.

"We have an issue" you said as you say down behind him.

"What is-" he begun as he turned to face you.

You put your niece down on the ground and she started to crawl around.

"She's not mine, she's my sisters, but I have to babysit her, is it ok for me to bring her to work?"

You watched as the little human looked up at L in his weird seating position and laughed.

"That's ok, as long as she stays out of trouble, what's her name?" He replied.

"Alana" you said.

Alana seemed to be very fascinated by L, she crawled up to him and used his legs as a way to help her up to her knees, she smiled as toothy grin at the raven haired man.

"She likes you" you said.

L reached out a hand to the child, and soon after alana had wrapped her tiny hands around L's finger. He picked up the child and sat her on his knees.

"She needs an alias" he said.

"Really?" You laughed.

"To the task force she will be known as Mel short for Melanie"

"Alright"

You picked up the small human and started to make your way over to your computer, but the further you got from L, the more Mel would kick and scream. Odd...

You put her down and watched as she crawled back over to L.

"I think she really likes you..." You said.

"Maybe she wants my strawberries" L suggested. He took one from the bowl and gave it to Mel, who instantly shut up and started to eat it.

"That must have been it" you said.

You went over to pick her up and carried her back to your seat, all was well until she finished the strawberry, she just started to cry again.

"We can't work like this. What could she possibly want?" You mumbled to yourself.

You looked over at L, and put Mel down again, she crawled back over to L and started to laugh.

"I have an idea" you said.

"Fire away" L replied not even looking away from his screen.

"Well... If we can put her to sleep that will shut her up for a while, but... She seems to like you, a lot. So..."

You went though you bag and pulled out a baby pouch and a bottle.

You then went over to L and turned him to face you, you clipped the baby pouch to him as he gave you a confused look. You gave the child the bottle and she was out in seconds, you strapped her into the baby pouch leavening L even more confused.

"Why do I have a child on my back?" He asked.

"So she won't cry, she'll sleep and you can still work" you said.

Without any questions, he shrugged it off and went back to work.

Ding!

That was your phone.

Sista: hows alana?

You quickly messaged back.

You: she's been good, I was allowed to take her to work and she really likes one of my co-workers.

Sista: who?

You: the shaggy haired tired looking one

Sista: the cute one that bought us cake that day?

You: yeah him

Sista: send pics please!

You:

Sista: ahh! So cute! He's going to make such a good father one day, what are you naming your kids with him? ;)

You: SIS! It's not like that, we only just started dating...

Sista: haha jk, I gotta go update me if anything cute happens.

You: will do, bye!

"Since when was L a dad? And since when did (y/n) have a kid?!"

You both looked up to see a very confused Matsuda.

"She's not mine she's my sisters, and keep it down we can't afford her to wake up right now" you explained.

"As for why she is attached to me, she seems to like me and stays quiet when I'm around so she's sleeping on my back for now" L added.

"Well you are pretty loveable" you smirked.

"This day just keeps getting weirder and weirder" Matsuda said.
