Not alone

Alone you sat on the empty stairs of your university, eating your lunch. You only had a half day today but you were still going to hang around campus because you dad no friends here and nothing better to do. You can barely even talk to another person. Every so often people would walk down the stairs and completely ignore you. You didn't really mind it actually.

You were half way through your cake when you heard footsteps behind you, expecting to be ignored, you ignored them. But you saw someone sit on the other end of the stairs near by you and take out a book, he leaned against the wall as he read, he held the book weirdly but if it was a library book you didn't really blame them, who knows where a library book had been.

You took another bite out of your cake and leaned against the wall, gazing out the window. You heard the person next to you move and coins jingle, he must be looking for money to get something that the canteen.

"Damn it" he mumbled under his breath.

You looked over and got a good look at the guy. He was tall, had dark eyes along with eye bags and a white shirt with baggy blue jeans. He was reading the a manga and had $2.76 in his hands.

"Shouldn't have skipped breakfast... damn this case"

You looked down at your lunch box, you did have another cupcake... and it would be nice to know someone else at this university... you pulled out and earbud and paused your music in case a conversation came up.

He was about to pick up his manga again when you tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to look at you, and toiled his head.

"U-um... would y-you like a cupcake? I have too m-many..." you said in a small voice.

His face lit up.

"Really?" He asked.

You nodded and handed him a chocolate cupcake with strawberries on the top.

"Thanks, what's your name?" He said, taking a bite of the cupcake.

"U-um... (y/n)"

"Well it's nice to meet you, these cupcakes are good by the way. I'm L-Uh, Ryuga"

He held a hand out to shake. You took it hesitantly and shook it.

"N-nice to meet you"

"Hey... aren't you the one that sits in front of me?"

You thought for a moment, he was right surprisingly.

"Y-yeah... that's me"

He looked at you as he thought for a moment, like he was deducting someone.

"You have one of the highest IQ's in the class right?"

You nodded.

"After you and that Yagami guy..."

Suddenly you saw his phone start to vibrate. He quickly answered it and slid away for a moment. You were about to put your music back on when you heard his voice again.

"Funny thing is... I've actually been meaning to talk to you, have you heard of the Kira case?"

You've heard of the Kira case, sure. But you never thought that your first conversation outside of otome games for a good three months would be about Kira.

"Y-yeah, he's being too cruel. I hope L catches him" you said.

"What if I told you that you could help catch him?" He said.

"WHAT?!"

You threw a hand over your mouth. That was way too loud.

"What do you you meet me here tomorrow? I'll get you recruited on the Kira case" he said, standing up and grabbing his book.

He pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it before handing it to you.

"If you have any questions, call me. I look forward to working with you"

And with those words, he walked off.

You looked down at the price of paper.
