It was morning. She couldn't see it but she could feel it. Slight warmth on her skin from a window. The bustling out in the halls. She could also feel the pressure of a bandage around her head and a cast around her wrist and ribs.
Genevieve's mind was still a little foggy from yesterday and it was still very hard trying to adjust. All of the worst possibilities kept coming to her. All of her fears, dreams, hopes.
Where’s my bible? I need it. Was the first thing she thought of and then laughed in suprise at herself. She always knew where it was. What a funny question... it sounds strange. My bible is- now she was even more suprised and actually quiet frustrated. She couldn't see to locate it! Was it even here? Where is it? Then she realized even if it was here she wouldn't be able to read it.
Before Ginger could think anymore about where her bible could be there was a knock at the door. "Yes?" she answered cautiously while turning her head to the sound.
"Hey. You know just because you're in a hospital doesn't mean that you can just skip work. We need you!" A familiar voice said. "Yeah. Believe it or not but Chet's cooking has gotten worse" Genevieve smiled "Johnny! Chet!"
"I missed you partner" Johnny whispered as he gave her a huge hug and yet being careful not to agrivate her condition. "Ok ok ok enough with the mushy partner friend stuff. I want a hug too" Marco added. "Me too" Mike chimed in.
"Of course" Genevieve laughed "you can have a hug any time!" "Uh I'm here too incase anyone wanted to know... and give me a hug" "Aww cap." She said reaching up to receive yet another hug. Then she waited. And waited. And waited
"Roy?" Genevieve asked. There was hesitation and unease. She could feel it. "No... he's not here" Johnny said slowly. Mike noted her disapointment "I'm sure he'll be here later" "Yeah maybe..."
Worry began to seep into her heart. She and Roy had been through a lot together but this was different. Could he handle their relationship now that she might not get her sight back?

"Anyone home?" A voice called from the doorway. "Roy!" Genevieve exclaimed happily. She could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke "Hey sweetheart. I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. Johnny said you were lookin for me"
She laughed though slightly uncomfortable that her emotions seemed more readable. "So... where were you...?" Roy chuckled "Relax. You're the only girl that'd be into me. Besides... maybe I wanted to get ya alone" he joked before kissing her forehead.
Genevieve only smiled slightly. "Something wrong... besides the obvious?" "You don't have to stay with me" she blurted out. Roy stared taken aback by her words. "Genevieve... I love you! Of course I'll stay with you!"
"I can't see. Roy what if..." her voice broke and she trailed off. "No Ginger don't think like that. Everything will be ok" Roy soothed lacing his fingers between hers. He pressed her hand softly to his lips "I promise."
Genevieve turned her head away from him. "You've promised before" she whispered. Roy stared shocked.
It was true, he had promised her things before. He promised to never leave her... to stay loyal. But he'd broken both of his promises when he moved away and married Joanne. But Genevieve had forgiven him and it was never brought up again.
Now she was- it suddenly registered in Roy's mind. Genevieve was trying to push him away so he didn't have to stay with her.
"Do you want me to leave?" "I'm tired" she snapped. "Yeah well me too. I'm tired of you thinking so lowly of yourself!" He snapped back "Tired of you being so stubborn! Of of of..." he cooled down a bit and dropped his head "do you want me to leave or not?"
Genevieve grasped at his arm with her good hand. "Roy" she sobbed "please stay! Please I'm so frightened! Please" "I'm here. Shh I'm here" he said gently holding her the best he could. "I won't ever leave you... I promise"
