"Hey" Robert Brackett said entering the sliding glass doors of a mansion. It was the mansion that he had bought for the most special person in his life.
A woman turned around from her spot at the kitchen counter with shimmering dark blue eyes. She was older but she looked to be in her early thirties. "Robert dearest you left in such a hurry from that tv interview last night. Not good for our image you know..."
"Sorry mom" he chuckled "It was an emergency. Where are my girls?" Robert looked around the huge off-white room with high ceilings. Neat as a pin and just as he liked it.
"They went to a friend's... what was the emergency..." She wasnt exactly interested in talking about her grandchildren at the moment. Not when there was news to be heard.
Robert set down his bag and picked up an apple from a wooden bowl. "You'll never believe it" he said taking a bite. The woman cleared her throat and sat straighter.
Robert knew that his mom was probably the most curious woman in the world. The fact that he wasn't talking was killing her.

"Well... you sure you want to know?" She tilted head raised her eyebrows and pursed her lips. "Ok, ok. So I got this text from that no good brother off mine that my best friend was in the hospital. When I get there not only does he show up but Kelly Brackett was there too!"

She froze wide eyed. Kelly? she thought with worry. I thought i rid myself of that problem a long time ago! Anything involving him could mean trouble.
It was true that she had done a good job raising her son to believe that his father was the worst person on the face of this earth. Robert even refused to call him dad. But that man could spoil everything! Evelyn Brackett waited intensely to hear what Robert had to say about this interesting little emergency.

"What happened?" "Well apparently Kelly and my friend were both in a car crash. Crazy huh? Oh and remember how you told me that Kelly... that he... killed my little sister?" Evelyn nodded nervously. "She's alive"
Her whole body tensed as she stared at her son's happy face. He then gave a look of concern. "Mom? I thought you'd be pleased! She's still alive!" She made a weak smile as she replied nervously "Yes. It... it's just such a surprise... Genevieve?" He nodded "e- excuse me Robert"
She darted up the stairs to her room and slammed the door shut breathing heavily. Evelyn slammed open the closet and grabbed her coat then crossed the room to her phone before dialing Rampart Hospital.
If the two of them were anywhere they were there. She kept up with Kelly whether he did the same or not. "Yes, is this Rampart Hospital?"
"Yes ma'am. How can we help?"
"I was calling for information on a Genevieve Brackett?"
Evelyn silently cursed herself for saying Brackett. You fool! She wouldn't be know as Brackett!
On the other side of the phone Dixie furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Genevieve Brackett? "May I ask who this is calling?" She proceeded cautiously. There was silence before it was abruptly interrupted by the loud buzz of the stranger hanging up.
Dixie frowned and hung up on her end of the phone. Maybe she got the names mixed up She thought at first. But why would she hang up like that?
Dixie's motherly instinct suddenly kicked back in. Something bad was going down. She didn't know what but she knew she had to warn Kelly. The two patients could be in grave danger.
