Granger Guilt I.M

Chapter 2

I was working late one night when Cormac surprised me with dinner. I was confused because we had not spoken in a few days because we were both so busy. Cormac took over his parents dress robe shop, so he was busy with bossiness.

Halfway through dinner Cormac turns to me and says,
"look Hermione I want to talk about 'us.'
"I want to say something as well," I reply.

"Well I think we should we should break up. I mean your a great girl and all, but I am just not feeling it anymore." Cormac says nervously.

"I couldn't agree more." I reply relieved at what he said.

" One other thing Mione, and I'm telling you this because I hold you in the highest respect. I have been seeing someone else while we were dating." He said nervously.

"I know Cormac. And I'm happy for Cho and you." I say knowingly.

"How did you find out?"

"Cormac, you aren't very good at hiding it. You two were walking around Diagon Alley all cozy. I am at Diagon Alley all the time for work." I say laughing.

"Why didn't you say anything before? Weren't you mad?" He asks.

"Cormac we never saw each other. And we like different things now I was happy. Now we can both move on." I say with a smile on my face.

"Well that is great Hermione. So we are still friends right?" He asks getting serious again."Of course Cormac! Why would you think differently?" I ask bewildered. "I cheated on you most people would be pissed, even if they were over the person. You are an AMAZING person Hermione." He said with admiration in his eyes. "Thank you! That means a lot." I say. Well it is getting late so I better lock up and you can go tell Cho the great news." Cormac smiles at this. "Thank you Hermione." Cormac smiles as he walks away. "No problem." I say cleaning up my paperwork suddenly feeling alone, when Cormac says something that catches my ear. "Hermione, take a break, go see Harry and his family or Ron. You work too hard, and I know it is to drown your sorrows and grief." After her finishes I don't answer and he just walks away.

The Next Day

I woke up this morning in my apartment. I felt weird. Something was wrong, I didn't know what but I developed a sixth sense in the war. I walk into my living room, wand in hand, when I see the Daily Prophet headline; Breaking News Cormac Mclaggen Found Dead in an alley way two blocks from the Ministry Of Magic. I was shocked I had just seen him last night, very much alive. how could this happen He had become one of my closest friends over the past few years. He was a comfort to have around. I went to get ready to go to work early to find out about Cormac's case. I was about to walk out the door when there was a knock at the door. I open it quickly and am relieved when I see Harry. "Harry I was just about to come down to your office. Do you have any leads on Cormac's case? I want to be on the case. Harry whocould have done this. I saw him last night, and then he left to meet with Cho." I ramble. "Hermione, you need to come with us." Harry says that is when I notice some of the other arours with him. "The have been accusations made and you need to give your statement of what happened last night."

That is when I realize what is happening. I am a suspect. I felt like crying but tears wouldn't come. "Harry I am not capable of this. You know that." I plead. "Hermione please come with us. If Your innocent you have nothing to worry about." Harry said. My best friend didn't believe me. I had heard him say that to hundreds of people, it is suppose to help them feel better when really they have no hope whatsoever.
