Chapter 52

Jack's POV

The phone rings in the kitchen, I quickly go to see who it is. It's Laura. I quickly press the green button. "Hey Laura! How're you?"I ask after Laura picks up. "I'm great, thanks, I've called because I need help with something" she says nervously. This doesn't sound good, because when Laura needs help it's serious. My heart begins to beat a little bit faster.

"Sure, um, what's wrong?" I wait for the reply, Laura hesitates before she starts to explain. "Well, you know about the whole Joe kissing his manager thing and-"

"Wait! What?" I shout, interrupting her. "Oh shit" I hear her mumble and she sighs. "Mark didn't tell you did he?" "That's why he's been acting strangely, not telling me who's he's talking to on the phone" I mumble to myself, then I quickly realise Laura's waiting for a reply. "No he didn't" I answer. I feel annoyed, upset and angry all at the same time. Was Mark ever going to tell me or was he going to keep it a secret? Who knows.

"Well, basically I went to hide from Joe in his dressing room to surprise him when he arrives and he walks into the room with his manager and she kisses him" She states and I don't answer, shocked at what I've just heard. "Oh..... wow" That's all I could manage to say. "Yeah, so I called for help" Laura continues.

"I'll try to help as much as I can" I say confidently. I'm going to try to make things right between Joe and Laura again, it might be hard but I believe we could do it.

"Thank you so much. Okay, so I went to meet Joe in the park today to talk to him about it" She starts the explain. "Okay, that's good because communication is key" I answer, I feel like a therapist right now, helping people sort out their problems.

"Yeah well, we talk for a bit and I tell him that we will have to regain our trust before anything happens between us again" She sounds sad. "Okay, but the important question is, do you still love him?" I ask.

I get no answer for a good 30 seconds. "Laura? Hello?" I say and I hear a sigh from the other end of the phone. "Jack, I don't know" She hangs up before I can answer. I'm so confused, what is wrong with Laura? She's keeping a secret from me, but it won't be long until I find out what it is.

I need to know that she is okay.

Mark's POV

I walk out of the shop, carrying a big bag of groceries in my hand. Suddenly my phone vibrates in my back pocket and I pull out my phone with my free hand. It's Jack.

J: We need to talk.
M: About what??
J: You have some explaining to do when you get home.

I don't answer, I'm so confused. What is Jack talking about? We've just gotten over the huge fight we had, now this. I begin to walk home, stopping every once and a while to swap hands to carry the heavy bag. I check my phone to see if Jack has sent any other messages. Nothing.

I walk slowly home, it takes double the time for me to get home than it normally does. I finally reach the apartment door and I unlock it with my keys. I slowly open the door and right in front of me is Jack, waiting for me.

"Jack, what's wrong? I haven't done anything wrong" I walk into the kitchen and I put the bag of groceries on the counter. Jack follows behind me.

"So there isn't anything you weren't going to tell me?" He asks, I think for a minute before shaking my head. What is he talking about? Jack sighs, "Anything about Laura and Joe?" He asks again. I suddenly realise what he's talking about.

"Oh" I answer and Jack smiles. "Well? Why didn't you tell me? Were you going to tell me?" He asks and I relax against the marble counter. "Obviously I was going to tell you, I just didn't want you to be upset that's all" I answer and Jack sighs, he looks upset now. "She's my daughter too you know? I care about her" He says, his bottom lip begins to tremble, signalling he is about to cry.

"I know, I know" I walk over to him and I wrap my arms around his small figure. He buries his head into my shoulder and begins to cry. I don't care that he's probably ruining my favourite shirt, he's more important. "Did Laura call you?" I ask and he nods.

"Joe called me" Jack quickly looks up at me. "Joe? What did he say?" He asks. "He says he didn't kiss his manager Chloe, she kissed him. He still loves Laura and wants to be with her again" I answer, leaving out the proposal part.

"Oh, weird thing is I asked Laura did she still love Joe and she just said 'I don't know' and hung up" I shake my head. Jack shrugs his shoulders, obviously as confused as I am right now. "What is going on" I mumble and Jack just shakes his head, kissing my forehead. "Who knows" He whispers back.

I smile, kissing him. Slowly the kiss becomes a little more passionate. Jack puts his hands up my back and I put my arms around his neck. Even after all these years, we still have a connection. I'm so happy about that. (That's all the 'smut' you're getting today hahah)

"I love you" Jack says, smiling up at me. He's so perfect, his eyes, his hair, his teeth, his body, everything. He is the definition of the word perfect. "I love you angel" I answer, kissing his forehead.
