The Rejected Alpha

Prologue

~Alpha Daniel Collins~

(Elena's Father)

I look down at her, she is so beautiful while she sleeps. I've always admired Kennedy. "Daniel...?" she says slowly opening her eyes. "Honey, where are you going?" she asks sitting up and yawning. 

"I have a meeting with Alpha Mason." I should've been more careful not to wake her up, I know how much she hated me leaving.

 "Oh... okay, be safe." She told me. She is bothered with me, I can feel it. I kiss her forehead.

"Kennedy, don't worry I'll be back soon." 

"You promise?" I saw a flicker of worry go through her eyes and I gave her a reassuring smile.

With the rogues still out there, I am not sure whether I'm going to come back or not. Closing the door behind me, I inhale the crisp autumn air.

I walk into the Pack House and give a nod to everybody, which they return to me. I sit down across from Alpha Mason.

 "We need to discuss the rogues." He tells everyone. "I received intel from our neighboring pack and they plan on attacking today."

I was standing outside the house after we finished the meeting, it's around 2 in the morning. 

"Daniel." I turn around and see Alpha Mason jogging up to me. "Listen, I know I have been distant lately and I just wanted to apologize for that." 

"Come on Dave, we're best friends -- you shouldn't need to apologize." We both laugh then stop and look at each other, we both knew something wasn't right. I sniff the air. "Rogues." I whisper. Three of them emerge from the dark forest. Just as I'm thinking we can easily take on three rogues, five more appear from behind us until we're surrounded completely. Two of them pounce at me, scratching  my arms . I wrestle my right arm from their grasp and punch a rogue square in the face. I shift into my wolf and fight off as many rogues as I can. 

"Daniel, help me!" I turn to my best friend who is on the ground clutching his leg. I could see blood seeping out from under his hands. I ran to him and nudged his arm around my shoulders. I drag him far away from the rogues so they all focus on me. I fought as hard as I could and was eventually fighting for my last breath. The rogues got what they came for then they left me on the cold ground dying. 

"D-Dave... Help me." I cough up access blood on the ground. Black dots are slowly clouding my vision.  'I love you, and will continue to love you even when I'm not there. Tell the kids I love them.'

'What the fuck Daniel, where are you?'  Kennedy says yelling. 

Dave runs as fast as he can to me. "No!  Daniel, please don't go!" His voice breaks and he crouches down to where I lay.

'Remember, I love you Kennedy, remember that Elena will be a powerful woman and Max will be a great leader.' As I say this, my eyelids grow heavier and I cannot keep them open any longer. "No Danny please don't go!"  He broke into sobs. "I'm-I'm sorry Dave," I whisper. "Tell everyone... I love them."
