Love the Way You Lie
Chapter Twenty Three

September 1, 2014

The week had been hectic. There had been so much planning for what was about to happen that Bey hadn't even realized that in a mere six hours, she wouldn't see her husband or child for a few months. She looked up from the iPad that she'd been buried in and watched Sutton and Shawn. They were lying on the couch watching some Disney movie that Bey had obviously tuned out. While she didn't know where they were going, she had placed herself in charge to do the planning. She made sure their flight was going to go exactly how she wanted it to go. She was in constant contact with the pilot, as well as Shawn.

With Cliff's help, Shawn was able to find them somewhere safe. The two men came together to find something that they felt Bey would have approved of if she could see it. Sadly, she wasn't able to physically see anything. She hadn't spent much time with anyone unless it was related to getting her family out of harm's way.

Bodies of those that called themselves allies of the Knowles were dropping fast. Just like old times, Michael was working his way up to the top. Bey had ordered more security for her family, friends, and the club. She wanted everything protected and with people that she felt that she could trust. If she couldn't trust you, she would either deal with it or just take you off the current and future missions.

"What are you thinking about?" Shawn questioned, breaking her trance of thought. He slowly sat up on the couch and held Sutton's limp body. She'd fallen asleep just as he had expected that she would.

Bey smiled warmly as she watched him carry her upstairs to her room. She didn't bother to respond to his question until he came back and looked at her with worry on his face. "There's only a few more hours."

Shawn nodded his head. She was the one losing everything in this whole thing. Shawn would have Sutton to remind him of Bey, but it wasn't quite the same. Sutton wasn't Bey. She wouldn't understand half the things that were happening around her. Bey, on the other hand, would lose the family she'd built. She wouldn't have her child to read to anymore. She wouldn't have her husband to cuddle with anymore.

"Are you worried about anything?" Shawn sat down next to her, removing the iPad from her hands.

Bey nodded her head. "We've never done this."

"We've run away before, Bey. You weren't this stressed the first time."

"Things are different now," Bey pushed out. "I'm not going with you this time. This time, you're leaving me and you're taking our daughter with you. This time, I'm having to put myself in the same position as them. I'm going to have to wonder and search."

"You're not having to search for anything," Shawn told her. "You are not to search."

"How will you know when everything is over, Shawn?"

He breathed out. "I will know. It's hard to not know. You need to focus your energy on this battle. Have you been practicing?"

Bey stood up from the couch and nodded her head. She'd been working overtime to get back in the zone. It was still hard for her as a woman, but she was slowly coming back to her senses. She had a ton to protect now. "Tae and I have been beating one another's asses for a week now."

"Really? She shouldn't be beating you," Shawn commented. "You need to be the one winning them all."

"I can't beat her every time." Bey laughed a bit, thinking of it. She would love to say that she whooped LaShontae's ass several times, but Cliff didn't lie when he said that Tae and Bey were equals. The women were two of the best fighters he'd ever seen in the game. They were the only two that could truly hold their own against men.
