Love on the Brain
Chapter Nineteen

July 7, 2014

Beyoncé  nervously paced her living room floor. She had been continuously  calling Shawn ever since he sent out the text saying that there would be  a meeting. With all of the people that he tagged, she was hoping that  he hadn't done something stupid. But, Bey only knew about him going to  pay Antoine a visit. She had decided to text Antoine after she figured  the meeting was over, but she had yet to receive a response. Was he  officially ignoring her?

Feeling the vibrations of her cell phone,  Bey looked down to see her mother calling her. With Tina, it could be  about two things. She could either be wondering why she hadn't seen  Sutton since the Kisa incident or she had information about the meeting.  Usually, people didn't involve Tina in the shenanigans, but it was  happening more and more that she was somehow involved.

"Yes,  Mother?" Bey answered sweetly, attempting to hide her panic. It was  officially one hour until seven, and she hoped that Shawn walked through  that door way before then to give her some details.

Tina laughed a bit. "Is that how you really answer the phone, my child?"

"No, but I'm really stressed right now."

"Why?" Tina inquired.

Bey  thought about it for a moment and decided that Tina didn't need to know  at the moment. "Just stuff with Shawn. It'll pass over. What's up?"

Tina  was apprehensive. She could always tell when her children were lying to  her, but now that they were grown, she didn't poke the bear anymore.  Bey was the type of person that withheld information in order to,  hopefully, protect. Knowing what they were going through, Tina didn't  know if she wanted to know or not. "I called because I wanted to talk to  you about something."

Bey frowned immediately and sat down on the  white couch in her main living room. It was the living room that the  family usually lounged in. Meanwhile, there was another one that Bey  liked to use for meetings, such as the one that they would be having  tonight. "What's wrong?"

Tina released a deep breath as she  prepared to tell her daughter something that she had been holding in for  many months. "How do you feel about the situation between your father  and me?"

Truthfully, she hadn't really sat down to give it a true  thought. At times, she felt that she was supposed to be sad about  everything. Her parents weren't in a happy space in their marriage, but  Bey was seemingly fine with everything. "I really don't know."

"If I were to divorce your father, would you be upset with me?"

"Why  would I be upset with you?" The question came out harsher than she  expected. "I'm grown, Ma. Your children are grown and married with kids.  We still see the both of you equally. If you want to divorce Dad, then  do it."

"I just feel guilty," Tina confessed. "For the past few  months, I've been very....fond of this other man. He makes me happy, Bey,  but I know I can't get serious without letting Mathew go."

"Then  let him go!" Beyoncé yelled at her. "You know what? I looked up to you  for so many years. You were my hero in all of this destruction. You've  known way before half of this shit happened that you didn't want him  anymore."

"I did it for you guys."

"We were grown!" Beyoncé  stressed to her. "All of your children are smart and mature enough to  understand that sometimes things don't work out. Look at me! I'm sitting  over here on the brink of a marriage and who did I have to give me  advice? Someone that has unhappily settled and suffered in a marriage."
