The Constable burst into the console room, now wearing skin tight tan trousers, a maroon jumper, and black combat boots. Her hair was hanging loosely just below her shoulders. "How do I look?" She asked with a grin, turning for special effect.
"Brilliant," The Doctor replied, "So where to next?"
The Constable leaned against the railing, considering for a moment. "Have you got any friends I can meet, Doctor? Or are you companion-less once again? And what happened to our species?"
"Well, we could go see Amy and Rory, if you like. Though I haven't seen them for months. And they all died." He went over to the console and was about to pull a lever, oblivious to The Constable's face falling at the mention of their species being wiped out, when he seemed to notice something. "Never mind!" He exclaimed. "I've got a brilliant idea. Do you see what this is? It's an invitation to tea with Julius Caesar. It's been a while since I've last seen him. Let's go to tea with Julius Caesar."
The Constable grinned, "Whatever you say, Doctor." She was glad that The Doctor hadn't drastically changed where adventuring was concerned, especially since he had changed his personality a lot since she'd last been with him on the TARDIS.
The Doctor ran around the console, pushing various buttons and pulling various levers along the way. He hardly stopped at one before moving along to the next.
"You've really got to learn to fly this thing better, Doctor," The Constable told him once the TARDIS had stopped shaking and they'd materialized in what she imagined to be Ancient Rome.
"Oi!" The Doctor protested irritably, "I can fly the TARDIS perfectly well, thank you very much."
"Then why does she shake so much every time we go anywhere?" The Constable countered, making her way over to the doors.
"It's supposed to do that," The Doctor replied, stepping out of the TARDIS and into a room made completely out of marble. The Constable rolled her eyes and followed The Doctor along.
"Doctor!" came a shout from the end of the hall, "I'm so glad you could make it." There were footsteps and the man who belonged to the voice appeared right in front of them. "And who is this lovely lady?" he asked, taking The Constable's hand in his and giving it a light kiss.
The Doctor smiled, "Julius, this is a good friend of mine. We call her The Constable."
"Oh?" Julius asked, leading them into a luxuriously decorated room, "A female officer?"
"We are time travelers, Caesar," The Doctor replied, taking a seat in a soft chair in front of the center table. The Constable sat down on a sofa next to Julius. "So what have you called me here for?" he continued, leaning back in his chair.
"Oh, yes," Caesar replied, "That. You see, there are these things invading my country. I'm not entirely sure what they are and I'd like to keep my people as safe as possible."
"You seem pretty calm about that," The Constable piped up, "If there was someone invading my country that I didn't have identification for, I'd be pretty worried."
"Your country?" Caesar asked, seemingly glad to be on a topic other than the oncoming invasion of Rome. To The Constable, he seemed like the type of person who wasn't very keen on admitting mistakes or things he didn't know.
"Yes, my country," The Constable replied, "I spent twenty years as the queen in England. But that's not for thousands of years."
"Oh, so you're an officer and a queen," Caesar said.
"I'm many things," The Constable replied.
"Okay, back to business," The Doctor said, clapping his hands to bring the other two back to attention. "The invasion. What do these things look like?"
