Shocked. A story of Predator and Prey.

Is this a bad time?

Nicholas didn't even look at the bunny after her comment. He just stared blankly ahead out the window. He had his chin on her shoulder.
Judy overall felt awkward when he did this, but what did she expect?

"Are you....upset?" Judy asked timidly towards the fox as he nuzzled her softly. She had to ask, she couldn't help herself.

"No......not mad....." Nick started before frowning.

"I asked you if you were—"

"I know. But I'm not mad." Nick stated again, cutting the bunny off.

The next morning seemed as if it were any other morning. Nicholas tried his best to try and act as if nothing had changed. But he was debating on whether or not to go to Wild Times that morning.

Harper and Bruno were seated in their high chairs as they smushed their hands around in their cereal. Finding it so amusing.

"It's goes in your—" Nicks helpful instruction got cut off by Bruno throwing a clump of mushed up cereal towards Nicks face. And he was a good aim.

Nick growled lowly as he wiped he cereal off his face. He had taken off his collar the night before, so he wasn't used to there being no 'warning' beep when he got frustrated.

He approached the sink and began to wash his face.

Judy entered the kitchen and smiled up at her children. She disliked how how Nick had made their high chairs so he would be able to reach the kids comfortably, but for her, it was a bit of a struggle.

After a few weeks, it was now much more visible Judy was pregnant, again. But it was obvious she was only having one kit. Being that she wasn't a mountain yet.

"Momma you're so fat." Harper giggled as she nudged Judy's forearm.

Judy had been laying down on the couch. She hadn't been doing so hot.

"Yeah!" Bruno adorably agreed with his sister before giggling.

"Yeah? Well it's your fathers fault. He fed me to much." Judy snickered softly as she continued to scroll through he camera roll on her phone.
"Hey, babes, what does this look like?" Judy asked as she turned her phone so the twins could see a picture of an ultrasound of when they were inside their mother.

"Uh—"
"Potato!" Harper cut off Bruno. Then, it seemed for a solid minute both twins were laughing hysterically.

"Mm. Close. It's you two." Judy said as she continued to scroll. She then found a very in depth and clear picture of both kits. If you didn't know it was an ultrasound it looked like as if somebody had crawled inside and taken crystal clear photos.

She then turned her phone to show the kits the photo, and both their eyes widened. Bruno quickly lifted up his shirt, looking for his very obvious umbilical cord that was visible in the picture.
After a few minutes of freaking both kits out with photos, the front door opened and Nick entered.
Both kits ran to their father to hug his legs, as they did everyday after their father returned from work. But they quickly let go of his legs when they felt his pant legs were soaked with frigid ice water. When they looked up, he was soaking wet.  And his collar stayed at yellow.

Judy propped herself up before frowning.
"Nicholas. What happened?" She asked with a worried tone.

Nick took a deep breath before approaching Judy, his feet making sloshing noises as he walked. Nick got down on his knees and grabbed onto Judy's paws as she sat up.

"Judy, we....we uh......can we uh.....c-can we go to tundra town.....ju-just me and you..." it was obvious Nick was struggling to speak. Being that he was holding back crying, and also trying his best not to get shocked.
