Blue

Stuck behind prison bars
The walls are bleeding blue
You look around, you cannot find
An exit or an escape route
The blue walls, some say, are suffocating
Cold and distant barriers
They keep in no warmth,
Not for more than just a minute
Or two

Yet you're burning up
Feverish, a dervish of red, spinning, pinning yourself against the backdrop of blue and you create a violent hue
Of violet
Oh.

You like it

This jail you find yourself encased in
Refusing to post bail, you take a second to inhale and-
Perfume?
A titillating scent coming from the fastened vents
Causing you to flush
The walls start to rush, rush
Moving all at once, never getting further away
Walls for which you pray, walls which keep you safe, walls which never break, won't let you fall when
Your mind will go insane

So that is why you stay,
Stuck behind prison bars
The icy walls for you are home
That lovely shade of blue
Protects you
Keeps you
Loves you
Ah
Someone is walking towards you now
To join you in the cell
Your heart is pounding
The walls glow brighter
As the smile widens on your face
You've been longing for this place and so-

You're awake.
Your girlfriend sees you stir
She smiles at you, she kisses your cheek
You feel the guilt and shame
"You mumbled something in your dreams
About my eyes, like prisons true, you poetic little cutie you,
Now relax right here and I'll go cook us some eggs"
You stare down, down at your legs
You cannot meet her gaze
And you know why.
The prison you've been longing for was your favorite shade of blue
A prison made, if it can be said, like it was meant for you.

Your girlfriend's eyes are green.
Whoops.
