Tonight is the night; tonight is the night that some might say 'I'm Popping the Question,' and to say I'm nervous is an understatement. What can I say? I want tonight to be perfect for Katy and Maya.
After changing my clothes for what seemed like the millionth time, I finally decided on a red button up and black pants. I left my hair alone because I don't think I look good with it gelled back now that my hair is short. Man, I sound like a girl. Once making sure I looked the way I wanted too, I grabbed my jacket and waited on the girls to get ready.
It took some convincing for me to get Katy to come to New York. Luckily its Maya's birthday, so when I told her I wanted to do something for her, she agreed. I just hope Maya won't think I took the limelight from her.
"Hey, Shawnee," I heard Maya say as she walked into the living room and sat on the couch with her legs crossed over each other. She looked beautiful. She wore knee length dress that had a sparkly top and a peach colored bottom and shoes to match. The top part of her hair was braided with the rest hanging down.
"Hey, you look beautiful, and did you just call me Shawnee?" I asked, surprised.
She smiled, "Thank you, and yes, I did."
"How do you know about that name? The only person that calls me that is Cory."
"I heard him call you that one day,"
Oh, I should've figured," I smiled at her.
Just then, Katy into the living room, when she did, I felt as if the breath had been knocked out of me. She looked stunningly beautiful. She wore red vintage dress with a belt around the waist and red high heel shoes to match as well. Her hair was put up in an elegant bun.
I stood up to greet her as she walked over to me. "Wow," I said, looking at her. "You look stunning."
"Thank you," she blushed and looked down.
"You're welcome," I told her. "Are we ready to go?"
"Yes, sir," Maya nodded her head, "I'm ready to see where you're talking me since you won't tell me."
I laughed, ever since she found out that I was going to do something for her birthday, she's bombarding me about where I was taking her.
"Well, aright, come on, then. Ladies first," I said, holding the door for them, and then doing the same with the car doors, too.
Question after question came from Maya as I drove to where we were going, but I wouldn't give in.
Soon, I pulled into the parking lot of our first destination. "Chopsticks," Maya read out loud.
"Yes, ma'am, this restraunt just opened up, so I thought we could try it out," I turned around and looked at her.
"Well, okay, what are we waiting for? Let's go in!" she said, opening the door and getting out.
Maya's excitement made me happy. I loved seeing her like this.
I held the door open for the girls as we went inside.
"Hi, and welcome to Chopsticks," a woman greet us when she seen us. "How many?" she asked.
"Three," I answered.
"Okay," she said, grabbing menus. "Follow me."
She seated us at a table with a booth and chairs. Katy and I sat in the booth, while Maya sat in a chair.
"What can I get you to drink?" the same woman asked, sitting our menus down in front of us.
"Sweet tea, please," Katy asked.
