Chapter 4; The Bruises
Chapter Song; Force Of Nature - Bea Miller

"Any other symptoms I should know about?" I ask as I place the stethoscope against his chest listening to his breathing, which sounded irregular.

Isaac takes a deep breath for me, "My chest hurts." He explains rubbing his ribs, "But, uh, you said I broke my ribs, so that's probably it right?"

"Probably." I nod laying him back down, writing some notes down on his chart before looking back up to him, "Anything else?"

"I'm a bit nauseous." He admits, pushing his head further into the pillow, like he's uncomfortable, "It kinda feels hard to breathe, but I don't know if that's because of the chest tube. I also feel a bit lightheaded."

My brows furrow as I think about all the symptoms together. Nausea, chest pains, lightheadedness, irregular heartbeat, and breathing. I had a hunch but I couldn't do anything until his father was here. Plus I still had to talk to Dr. Geyer and Melissa about it.

I nod to myself, "It's probably nothing but I'll talk to your doctors about it." I tell him placing the chart on the table, "One of the nurses called your father."

He lets out a heavy sigh and looks up at the ceiling, "Great." I hear him mutter.

"Once he's here we can talk to him about additional tests, and taking out that chest tube." I explain to him with a smile.

"Thank god." He laughs making me chuckle, "I'm kinda getting sick of waking up and seeing a tube coming out of me."

I send him a small smile, "I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Uh, could you bring back a pudding cup?" He questions with a quirk of his brow.

"Okay." I reply with a smirk, "I'll do that just so I can eat it in front of you."

His grin grows as he looks at me, "You are a cruel woman, Sage Evans."

I let out a small laugh as I roll my eyes, before walking into the hallway. I saw Melissa standing at the desk doing some paperwork. I held his chart close to my chest as I walked over to her. I knew I was probably right about what was going on, but it still made me a bit nervous. I couldn't be wrong.

Melissa look up at me as I approach and she sends me a warm smile, which helps settle my nerves, "How's Mr. Lahey doing?" She asks as she looks back down to another patients chart, "I just got off the phone with his father."

"He's okay." I start rocking back and forth on my feet, "But he said that he's having pains in his ribs, nausea, lightheadedness, and he has irregular breath and heart beats." I let out a sigh as she looked up to me, "He could have some internal injuries we haven't seen yet. I kinda have a hunch but I'm not going to say anything about it until it's confirmed."
