The plan was to get to the pension and you and Kyoya leave for the cottage in his car, but then the storm started. You told Kyoya that you want to make sure Haruhi and Hikaru get back safely before you leave, but they haven't showed. Kyoya has ignored the situation and has gone to work in his notebook away from everyone.
You and Tamaki are pacing the floor of the vacant dining area as the others look all but concerned. Tamaki takes it upon himself to phone Hikaru to see what the hell is going on. The conversation is short before it gets heated and it's revealed that Hikaru left Haruhi in the storm.
"You idiot!" Tamaki growls. "I want you to turn back and look for Haruhi right now! What kind of jerk leaves a girl out in a storm by herself? Now, you listent to me, Haruhi is terrified of thunder!"
Rage engulfs your being and you snatch the phone away from Tamaki. "Listen here, you red-headed asshole. If you don't look for Haruhi this instant, I will roast your corpse over an open fire and feed you to the sewer rats. Do I make myself clear!?"
"Y-yes, Ma'am," Hikaru stutters and hangs up the phone.
You hand Tamaki back his cell and let out a noise of anger. You stomp over to Kaoru and put your face close to his.
"If Hikaru doesn't return Haruhi unharmed, you're going to be down one brother, I promise," you snarl.
"You might be going a bit overboard, don't you think, (Y/N)?" Kaoru questions with fright gleaming in his pupils.
"I don't think she is," Tamaki comments, still pacing the room..
"Kyoya, are you going to do anything?" Honey asks the man sitting by the window.
"Nope."
You remove yourself from Kaoru's personal space and join Tamaki pacing the ground.
"I think you guys are worrying too much," Kaoru says.
"Really?" you reply, stopping your feet. "See, there's a reason Tamaki and I are so worried. We know what it's like to lose people close to us. Even if we know Haruhi will be okay, we fear for her safety. It's what we call caring. It's something you won't understand until you lose someone very close to you."
Silence rings out in the building besides the rain hitting the windows and crackling thunderstorm that seems to be lighting up. Tamaki joins your side and gives the hosts the same look you have.
"Harsh, but true. Even with all the money in the world, it can't cure the pain of losing someone you care for," Tamaki says.
Kyoya shows up on your side and gently pulls you away from the scene. He makes you sit next to him while he continues doing his important work. You lay your head on the table as the thunder booms once again in the sky.
"I think I'm going to call my brother," Honey mumbles.
"Me, too," Mori says.
"Now I'm worried about Hikaru," Kaoru says.
Almost twenty minutes later, the rain has let up and sky is clearing of the dark clouds. The door to the pension opens and in walks Haruhi and Hikaru looking completely fine and safe.
"Did you resolve something?" you ask after checking Haruhi to make sure she's okay.
Haruhi and Hikaru share a look. "Yeah, we did."
"Wonderful," you mutter.
You give Haruhi a hug and also Hikaru with a little more pressure to it. You apologize for your excessiveness, but it seems to be understood by everyone. You get Kyoya to come back to earth so you can get back to the cottage, but whatever he was told on the phone has him immersed in his notebook at the moment.
You reach down into his pocket to retrieve his keys and guide him over to the passenger door to push him in and tug on his seatbelt like a child before going to the driver's side and letting yourself in. You drive to the cottage in silence because you're too enamored by Kyoya's intense concentration.
"What's going on?" you finally ask after getting out of the car and walking into the cottage.
"My family's medical business may be bought out from under us. It's our biggest industry and I'm trying to figure out how to save it. We could lose a lot of money," he answers quickly, walking faster to his bedroom.
"Do you need help?" you ask.
"No, it's all very complex and secret Ootori family exchanges. I would get in trouble for even showing it to you."
You nod as you enter the room and Kyoya goes straight over to his desk to flip open his laptop. He takes out another notebook and flips through that while typing with one hand. You decide he needs to focus on his work and go to take a shower to stay out of his way.
It's a few hours later when the clock is striking two in the morning that you're sitting on the bed reading a book while Kyoya is still at his laptop. You don't want to disturb him, but it's important that he gets enough sleep before later..
"Kyoya," you say, getting up and walking over to his desk. "You should come to bed. You've been working for hours."
"I have a lot more work to do. If you're tired, I don't care if you sleep, but I'm not until this is completed," he replies.
You put your hands on his tense shoulders. "Come on. It's two o'clock and you can pick this back up tomorrow."
"No, (Y/N)," Kyoya firmly responds. "By this rate, I won't get done until about five, but with you bothering me, it will take longer."
"Okay," you say, waltzing back over to the bed and curl yourself in the sheets. "Don't complain to me that you're tired later."
"I won't."
You lay on your side and watch Kyoya sit on the edge of his chair. You know how much he wants to impress his father and help the company, especially since Kyoya is kind of on his bad side, but you're always concerned for his health and sleep schedule. He constantly strives for greatness and it irks you that he can't see it in himself.
Your eyes flutter closed soon and your last glimpse is of Kyoya in his natural environment and you wonder if there will be room for you in his own little world.
