New Year's Special

A/N: Happy New Year, everyone! So this special is like another interlude (boy, I have a lot of interludes now), and it's a lot like the Christmas Special. Only, it'll be the 3rd person POV of someone new. It takes place on the night of the Christmas Special, and it's more of a drabble, really ^~^"

Here ye go~ :D

Where is she?

Where is she?

These thoughts run in his mind as he tosses and turns in his bed. The crescent moon shines its silver beams down on him, illuminating his face. His features are handsome, but they are contorted with agitation and despair. He needs answers. He needs them now. But he can't get them.

He needs to find her...

"Where is she?" he breathes to himself, staring up at the ceiling. He silently berates himself for failing. He hates himself for not managing to protect her. While he was not present during the time she disappeared, it was still technically his fault. He wasn't there for her. He wasn't even there for his friend. That was how bad he was. That was how much he was bound to fail.

He shifts to look at his bed side table. A picture frame sits on it, and only half is occupied. The picture in it is torn, and there is a girl in it. Her hair is a deep burgundy, her eyes a hopeful, sky blue. He knows he will never forget her smile: so peaceful, so happy, so pure.

He feels his heart contract. He misses her so badly...he misses her smile, her voice, her laughter...He misses every inch of her.

Tears spill out of his eyes as he bites his lip and his eyes scour the rest of the items. There is a golden locket in the shape of a heart. He takes it and turns it in his fingers; how it reminded him of that girl. He opens it, and inside it are two pictures: him and the girl, smiling as if neither had a care in the world. A smile creeps up his lips as he remembers how happy she was when she received it from him. He laughs to himself, more tears springing to his emerald green eyes.

He puts the necklace back. Beside it is a small box, about the size of his palm. He doesn't want to open it. He doesn't want to be reminded of how much he wanted to give it to her. The night she disappeared was before the day he planned to give it to her.

But he can't help it.

He slowly takes it and gazes at it. He smiles again; for two years he had had it. He wanted to give it to her last year, but he was afraid that she would get the wrong idea. His intentions are pure, but he knows he has to wait just a little longer.

He was patient, sure, but her disappearance really alarmed him. He looked everywhere for her, but it was as if she never existed. So he moved away from the town, and here he is, looking for her again.

He opens the box, looks inside, and closes it again, sighing. More tears are flowing out of his eyes.

He needs to find her soon...very soon.

He makes it his life goal as he drifts off to sleep.
