Slight Hetalia "Rant"

I hesitate to call this a rant because I'm not exactly angry with this, it's more of a question.

Why do some people portray Germania as abusive?

I'm sure he could be a strict parent, but I don't think he would abuse his grandchildren. Heck, there's even a strip where he is shown to care a lot about his family. I'm not really angry, just more confused.
