I looked down to see the damage that was done. His arm was right through my chest, with blood running down it and the lower half of my body. I looked up and coughed up blood. Everything was starting to darken again, and like that, I collapsed. Yeah, this was it.

I started thinking. It can't be so bad. Dying. I won't have to worry about fighting to survive every day. I'll be able to see my friends again. Yeah. Them. Kael, Roon and Luz. I wonder how they're doing in the afterlife. Hopefully they're resting peacefully. I got rid of the Shifters that killed them. That's enough to help them rest, right? No... I promised that I would end this terror for good. That I would avenge everyone. My friends, the countless people who were killed, everyone... but now... I guess I won't be able to keep that promise now. This really sucks... no, wait... I can't give up like this. I have to get back up. Cyel is counting on me. My friends would be too.

I turned to my side, attempting to get up. I managed to get on one knee but immediately I collapsed again. I kept trying and trying. I can't let this end like this.

"Oh?" Edrick seemed amused. "Are you still trying to defeat me? Haha! I like you!"

He was just laughing at me in my pathetic state but that didn't stop me. It wouldn't.

"Now now, I know just the trick to help you there. One moment." He said before disappearing.

I looked around for him. He could have just hidden somewhere around me again. A mere 10 seconds passed and he had returned, but he wasn't alone.

"YOU BASTARD! DON'T YOU DARE HURT HER! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU IF YOU DO!" I threatened. He was holding Cyel up high by the neck.

"Oh I won't. You will!" He said with a grin.

Edrick put his right arm forward and by what I could only assume was dark magic, healed me and began controlling my body. I was conscious and could see, feel, and hear everything, but I couldn't control my body's movement. He made me walk forward and unsheathe my sword. I knew what he was trying to do.

"STOP THIS NOW!" I demanded. His grin grew larger. He was enjoying this. That sick bastard.

I was slowly getting closer and closer to Cyel. Small steps were being taken at a time, perhaps I was still in some control and slowing myself down, but it wasn't enough as I continued walking. In a minute's time, I was face to face with Cyel. Her face, full of tears. My heart dropped. I can't let this happen but I was helpless. I wasn't in control.

My body grabbed my sword with both hands and raised it up high. I tried looking away but I couldn't. Edrick made me watch. As I was about to swing the sword, I was pounced from behind.

*Meow*

Ah Purrcy, you saved the day. Good boy.

Edrick sighed. "That was no fun kitty. I should have you killed for that. Matter of fact, you will die for that!"

He flung Cyel's body at Purrcy at high velocity. He laughed. That laugh will forever haunt me. That feeling of sadness and despair from the sight of my companions being hurt didn't last long. It was soon overcome by a feeling of rage. I was pissed.

"I won't let you get away with this!" I growled.

I began twitching. Anger filled my body and thoughts. I blinked and everything was different. I was surrounded by what looked like fire. Everything looked orange. I looked down to see that this was simply my aura. I felt myself becoming stronger. A grin formed on my face.

I lunged at Edrick and managed to land a strike. I punched him in the stomach. Several times. A hundred times. All in under a minute. I stopped and stepped back. I had actually hurt him.
