"Why should I tell you everything about me?" I asked Drayce, trying to keep room between us on the small couch.
"Well, you seem like a cool girl and we could use a fourth girl in the group" he tells me. I look away from him then look back to see him still looking at me like I'm some science project that's not working.
I sighed then said,"Well I'm 18, my last name is Taylor, I don't have a phone, my life isn't very interesting, um that's about it"
"Oh come on Jess, I know you're hiding something from me. I can see it in your eyes." He tells me.
"I'm not gonna tell you though, so you can forget about it" I snapped, obviously not wanting to announce that I'm homeless in front of everybody.
"Fine, I'll get it our of you sometime soon. I know I will" He states, confidently.
"Keep thinking that" I laugh, shaking my head. I look over at Christian, seeing that he had finished his cigarette and was still talking to Ace and Ty. Ace looked over at me and I quickly looked away, turning my attention to my lap.
I stood up and walked over to Christian, trying to look as normal as possible so I wouldn't cause any disruptions. "Hey, um Chris can we leave?" I asked him. He turned around his eyes locking onto mine. I broke his harsh gaze by looking down at the ground.
"Fine." He said goodbye to everyone then we went back to where we got in. I groaned at the sight of the basement doors in front of me. I could hardly get down how am i going to get back up? I thought to myself. "Come here" Christian said holding his hands in front his body, indicating that he was going to give me a boost up.
"Thanks" I shyly said as I placed my hands on his shoulders and out my foot in his hands. I pushed me up and I grabbed the edge, pushing myselg onto the grass from there. I looked back to see if he needed any help up ak well.
"Hold this" He says, taking off his leather jacket exposing his tattoed arms and part of his chest. I must have been staring because he thrusted the jacket toward me with an attitude.
"Oh right, hold the jacket" I mumbled. He jumped up his height obviously being an advantage to get him to the ledge. From there he pushed up, his arm muscles flexing to help him get up. I watched in awe at his flawless body, as he stepped onto the grass to join me.
"Let's go" He huffed walking past me, not even bothering to take his jacket back. I rolled my eyes again and followed him to the car. I got in the passengers seat and reached over to turn the music in his car down. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked me, grabbing my hand before I could get to the button.
"I was going to turn it down because I have a head ache from all the smoke and blaring music in that basement" I told him, shooting him a glare.
"Well the music is staying at this volume" He fires back at me, finally letting go of my hand. I sigh and put my head against the seat, trying to make my headache go away. With no luck I sit forward again and look out the window, resting my head against the cool glass.
When we reach the house, I slam Christian's car door shut, trying to break the damn thing. My headache is now worse and I need some rest. I threw myself on the bed and closed my eyes trying to fall asleep as fast as humanly possible.
*Christian's P.O.V.*
I went to my room throwing my jacket across the room. Damn Jess is so annoying! No one touches my radio, I mean no one. I sat on my bed putting my head in my hands trying to cool down. I saw her talking to Drayce and I can tell he's up to something. He's a prick but one of my best friends. My group of friends aren't the best people but that's why I hang out with them. Everyone on the block is pretty much scared of us. I think it's pretty funny actually. I'm out of school, and not in college because I dropped out. That shit was stupid. I have enough money to have kids and they wouldn't have to work a day in their life. My dad owns the biggest restaraunt in town, 5 stars, and my mom works in something that has to do with dead people and finding the cause of death and that stuff.
I turned on my Xbox 360 putting Modern Warfare 3 in the system. I took my frustration and anger out on all the puny little kids and some of the best on Xbox, winning every Free-for-all match I joined. After I decided to wrap up my stomach growled. I guess that's my cue to go eat now I thought to myself, standing up from my bed. I went to the kitchen and pulled out the candy, grabbing almost everything inside the drawer. I went to the living room, sitting down on the couch. I turned the T.V on, only to turn it back off when I heard footseteps coming down the steps. I looked out into the kitchen that was only a room away.
I saw a sleep dazed Jess walking into the kitchen, probably the only room she's been in besides her own room. She sat at the table, resting her elbows on the piece of furniture. She rubbed her temples which told me that she still had that god damn head ache. I stood up from the couch, startling her, and went to the cabinet above the sink. I dropped two Advils into my hand and got a glass of water. I set them down on the table and walked back to the living room. I heard her mutter a 'thank you' but I didn't bother to answer.
Before I knew it she was sitting on the couch next to me, sitting criss-crossed. She stole a gummy worm from the bag in between us and popped it into her mouth,"These are my favorite" Her face lite up as she spoke the words, still chewing the piece of candy. I was struck with guilt as I realized she probably hasn't had candy in ages. I pushed the bag of gummy worms towards her letting her chow down on them.
"Jessalynn?" I said, looking at her.
"Yes?" she said after swallowing.
"Can I call you Jess because Jessalynn is too long for me" I ask.
"That's fine Chris" She laughed.
"Ok but the thing is I know what's going on with your little situation" I blurted out, not being able to stop myself.
Her face dropped and she stared at me for a little bit,"What are you talking about?"
"Jess, I know that you're homeless." I told her.
"Oh, please don't tell anyone Chris, I'm begging you" She pleads. There's fear present in her eyes and it's a horrible sight to see.
"I need to at least tell my parents, they should know" I protested.
"Ok fine." She agrees, pursing her lips. I turn the T.V on after our awkward conversation. I flip through the channels, finding almost nothing. A image of my favorite movie came on the screen and I stopped going through channels. I set the remote back down and reached for the bag of starbursts.
After about half an hour of watching the movie I got bored and got on my phone. I was disrupted from Twitter by the laughter of Jess. I looked up at her seeing her laugh. I started to feel a smile tug at my lips, but I didn't let it show. I put the blank stare on my face and went back to Twitter. Jess kept laughing at all the funny parts in the movie, that I've watched probably watched a million times.
Jess was much less annoying when she wasn't complaining, or even talking for that matter.
