Logon’s pov
As we walked towards the command booth, I looked at my team. Sprayer and Spartan were covered in paint.
“How many rounds did you all use?” I asked everyone.
“I used on belt.” Sprayer said.
“I used maybe four, thirty round clips.” Spartan said.
“I think I used around ten rounds.” Archer replied.
“Me and the Captain used almost ten mags each.” Razor put in.
“So we’ve all had a slow day then.” I said jokingly. Every one laughed at this. We arrived at the command booth to find five people standing at attention, four of which were covered in paint splatters, the hallmark of paint rounds.
“I hear that you’ve chosen the new member of your unit.” The General said as he walked over. My unit and me jumped to attention.
“At ease.” The general added. We relaxed instantly.
“Yes sir. We have decided that candidate number 3 will be joining the unit.” I announced. The middle candidate and the only on that wasn’t covered in paint stepped forward.
“The rest of you are dismissed.” The General told the rest of the candidates. Once all of the candidates had moved off, the General turned to the on standing before us.
“Introduce yourself to your new team.” The general told the candidate. The candidate’s hands moved up to their face. They moved the rap-around sunglasses up into a cavity in the rim of their helmet. Then they moved the scarf down off their face. Behind my high altitude mask, my mouth dropped in surprise.
“Hello, I am Lieutenant first class Karren ‘Hunter’ Maybury.” She said.
“Well its nice to have you to join the unit. I’m Lieutenant Richmond Schiller, but all these people call me Razor.” Richmond said with a cocky smile.
“Shut up Schiller!” Sprayer said. “Don’t mind him. I’m corporal Fitz ‘Sprayer’ Simmons. This is gunnery sergeant Franklin ‘Archer’ Montgomery, he is Bombardier Jacob ‘Spartan’ Rigby. The captain can introduce himself.”
Karren’s pov
I looked towards the last of my new unit to introduce himself. I couldn’t see his face behind that mask he wore. As I looked at him, I felt like I knew him from somewhere. His hands moved to his mask, removed it. My jaw dropped when I saw him.
“Hello Karren. I am Captain Logon ‘Jag’ Price.” Logon said in a voice ringing with shock.
“Logon…” I could bring myself to finish.
“Do you two know each other?” I heard Sprayer ask.
“Yes, we go to the same School.” Logon replied.
I finally pulled myself together, “Well, I, I wasn’t expecting to see you.”
“Neither was I.” he replied.
“Well, um, lets go celebrate the coming of a new member to the unit.” Razor said, trying to break the awkward silence. Logon put his mask back on. Some how, this made it easier for me, not being surprised whenever I looked at him. God this must be hard for him.
“ What do you say Captain, we go partying or not?” Archer asked.
“Well, if they’ve got ginger beer and I’m not paying, then lets go.” Came the reply through the mask.
