Chapter 21

Tara's P.O.V

I sat still, staring at the plain white wall. I have been in the same position since I was told to sit in this chilled hallway. I hate hospitals. I thought to myself before looking down at the tiled floor and beginning to count each one.

As I did so I though back to the moment when I found the letter Devion left, breaking it to Mum was crushing.


*Flashback*

I sighed running down the stairs and grabbing my back pack. 'She is going to be late.' I thought. As I went to grab an apple I saw a piece of paper on the counter, I hesitantly picked it up and began to read.

'Dear Mum,

I have decided to go to L.A. if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm in love with Luke. I'm head over heals for him, it's more than I can put into words. So that's why I took them up on the offer of going to L.A, I need to be with them or I'll feel lost. Mum this is for my happiness. I know you will be upset because of the amount of school I'm missing and because you now know about Luke and I, but please don't hate me.

This is also for Daniel and Luke. Daniel needs me, Luke needs me, Jai needs me. I actually feel needed around the boys. Mum I will be back but for now I need to be here because I'm never letting anything get in the way of Luke and I again.


I love you loads. Oh and Tara the legacy bird ;)

I placed the letter back and started crying. The legacy bird was something Devion and I have been talking about for years. We came up with it when we were kids, it was a bird we asked Jai to draw for us. The bird represents everything that has and will ever happen to Dev and I but it also means that we will always love and be there for eacother. We were going to get the bird tattooed this summer. But now I don't know if we will.

"Tara hun, whats wrong?" asked Mums voice as she entered the tiny room.

*End of Flashback*

I whiped away the tears I hadn't realized had escaped. As I looked back up I saw my mothers doctor making her way over to me.

"Hello Tara." She stated, I smiled weakly and stood up.

"Hi Dr.Marza, is she going to be okay?" I asked hope still shining through my bright blue orbs. Her face fell as he looked to his clipboard. "Im sorry to tell you this but it's spread, there is nothing we can do. She won't be here by this time tomorrow. You can say goodbye if you like." I fought back the tears as I nodded and walked past him making my way to my mum's room.

As I stepped into the door I let all the tears fall. I ran to her bed side and grabbed onto her tiny hands. "Mum I'm so sorry." I sobbed into the bed sheets, she was still unconscious.

"I know you can't hear me Mum but I'm sorry Devion and Daniel never found out and I'm sorry that their not here to say goodbye. But I am, and I just want to thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you and I can't believe I have to let go." I sobbed. I released her hand and sat on the chair and started to pray as my tears flowed freely.

I wish Devion knew why I was being a bitch, because I had to keep this from her. I had to keep our mum having cancer from the people I love most and I couldn't take it.

Devion's P.O.V

"Stop being such a cunt!!!!" I shouted at Daniel before turning on my heel and going out to the pool. The boys were over reacting. We have three points and they have two as of yesterday. So now Daniel and Beau are throwing a temper tantrum because we're ahead.

I felt the presence of someone joining me outside. I looked up to find Jai. "What's the matter?"

"Daniel is mad about the prank war." I sighed rubbing my temple. Jai squatted down next to the chair I was sitting in and he rest his arm on my shoulder. "Hey sloths!!!" cheered Mary running outside in her onesie with her arms all tangled in the buttons. "What happened to you?" I asked as she stood next to me.

"I forgot to take off my socks so I decided to take them out but now my arms are stuck." she pouted. I laughed and helped her with it.

She threw her arms up in joy and shouts "HALLELUJAH IM FREE!!!"


"Dev your phone." Jai said picking it up off the lawn chair and handing it to me. I accepted the call.

:: Phone Call::

Unknown: Hi I'm Dr.Marza, your sister told me to call this number. Devion Anne Sahyounie, correct?

Me: Correct. May I ask why your calling?

Melbourne Hospital: Well we have some news to break. I'm so sorry to tell you but your mother passed away from lung cancer this morning.

I dropped my phone, luckily Jai caught it and hung up the call.

::End of Call::

The whole world became blurred as I fell back into the chair and started sobbing. "What happened?" asked Mary sitting next to me in the chair. Jai stepped to my side and squatted down to my level.

"Dev we can't help unless you tell us." Mary sighed. I continued to cry not being able to put my thoughts into words. I soon felt more people crowding around us.

"What happened?" asked Daniel from behind me. I looked up to see Beau and Luke in front of me well Mary and Jai were still on either side of me. I turned around to find James and Daniel. I looked up at Skip "Mums dead." I spoke softly. Daniel sobbed and I stood up to hug him. Everyone stayed silent, patiently waiting.

A few minutes later I looked up to Luke and motioned to the rest it was okay. They all came over and we embraced in a group hug.

I wish Tara was here.

A/N Okay so if you didn't quit get it Tara found out about there Mum having cancer so she confronted her. Their Mum then told her she had to keep it a secret. So Tara did but the emotional intensity of her knowing and not being able to tell anyone made her depressed. So she decided to close off from the people she loves most, Mary doesn't get that and follows her. Mary does this because she's scared to face Daniel again.

So I hope that explains the parts that had been left in the dark.
