Someone was gently shaking me awake and saying my name. I blinked my eyes open and Drew was standing over me.
"Come on, it's time for me to leave." he held out his hand.
I sighed and got off the couch. "Already?"
He nodded.
"I have to get all my stuff." I yawned and shook my head.
"The housekeeper already did," he reached behind the couch and lifted up my duffel bag.
I nodded and we left his house. I held one of his hands in both of mine. I leaned my head on the window and sighed. "I don't want to go home." I mumbled.
"Hmm?" he asked.
"I said, I don't want to go home." I looked over at him. He turned on my street. "I don't know how to say it----"
"Uh-oh." Drew sighed. "Looks like, we're in trouble." he pointed to my house and our dads were standing in the driveway.
I sighed and sat back. I kept telling myself I should just tell him my dad hits me but I couldn't bring the words to my mouth.
He pulled up in front and we got out.
"There you are." William smiled. I smiled and he hugged me. "Good to see you."
"You too." I said.
"I'll take your stuff inside." Drew said. I nodded and followed him in the house and up the stairs. He set my bad on the bed and hugged me.
"I'll come back soon." he mumbled into my hair.
I nodded and looked up at him. "I'll be here when you do."
He kissed me and held me for a moment longer before pulling away. "I love you." he pecked my lips.
"I love you too." I closed my eyes.
Drew rubbed his thumbs on my cheeks and wiped the tears away.
"Be careful." I whispered.
He nodded and kissed my forehead.
I showed him out and went back up to my room. I laid in my bed and cried until I fell asleep again.
When I woke up again my stomach growled. I looked at the alarm clock, it was a little after 6:00PM.
I opened my door and the smell of food came up from the kitchen. I followed it and my mom was having a dinner party.
She saw me and smiled. "Hello, sweetie."
I smiled. "Hi."
All her friends looked at me and grinned.
I half smiled back because they were staring. I turned and grabbed a finger sandwich. When I turned they were whispering and nodding at me.
"Um, is everything okay?" I asked.
One of the ladies, Virginia, nodded. "Of course dear." she had a southern accent.
"We were just talking about how happy your new husband must be." a different lady said.
"For?" I asked slowly.
"The baby silly!" Virginia said happily.
I must have looked like a deer caught in the headlights of a car because she chuckled and shook her head. "who said I was going to have a baby?"
"Because you're glowing." she smiled.
I laughed nervously. "No, see I just woke up and my grandma used to say that I looked innocent when I first got out of bed."
They all shook their heads, even my mom.
"No, it's the pregnancy glow." my mom said.
"I'm not pregnant." I said defiantly and went back upstairs. They all chuckled and continued talking as I was walking.
I paced around my room thinking. I can't be pregnant, there is no way. He used protection every time.
I nodded and let out a sigh of relief. I'm not pregnant.
