I fell asleep before my mom got back with food.

When I woke up my phone was beeping loudly from my room. I sighed and tried to ignore it but every time I would almost fall asleep, the tone would sound and I would startle awake.

Groaning, I drug myself out of the bathtub and into my room. The phone was laying on my bed. I must have gotten it back from my dad.

I looked for the recent stuff and had tons of missed calls and my voicemail was full. All from Drew.

I sighed and started playing the voicemails. Each and every one of them was him trying to get me to come talk with him and explain why all this is happening.

I sighed and tossed the phone on the end of the bed. Muffled voices came from downstairs in the kitchen and I could tell my dad was talking to someone. Probably a client.

Someone walked upstairs and I recognized the familiar heel clacks.

Tammy stuck her head in and smiled at me. "You're up." she came in and sat by me.

I nodded and sighed.

She nudged me with her arm. "What's up?" she asked.

I shrugged. "Drew and I aren't together anymore."

She tilted my face up. "Why not?"

I shook my head and stood up. I crossed the room and sat in the window sill. "I couldn't be with him. He was always gone." I said quietly.

I saw her nod. "Do you still love him?"

"Yeah." I leaned my head on the glass. "A lot."

"Then go talk to him." she stood up and went in my closet. She walked back out holding a light sweater. "Put this on because your shirt is all wrinkly." she tossed it at me.

I shook my head. "I don't want to go talk to him right now. It's too early."

She nodded. "How about we go get something to eat then?"

I looked back at her and nodded.

"I'll be downstairs." she closed the door behind her.

I put on the sweater and slipped on my sneakers. All my other clothes were at Drew's house. My stomach clenched but I breathed in and out deeply to get rid of the nausea. It helped but didn't get rid of it completely.

I grabbed my money and headed downstairs. My dad looked up at me as I walked past the kitchen but didn't say anything. I was secretly glad he didn't. That would be awkward.

The kitchen was cleaned and everything looked almost back to normal.

Tammy was standing in the living room looking at the pictures on the walls. She turned when she heard me walk in.

We got in her car and she drove into town.

"So what are you in the mood for?" she asked.

"Uh, I don't know." I looked around. "What do you want to eat?"

She glanced in the rearview mirror. "How about we go to Mick's Diner?"

I nodded. "Sounds good. You know, I haven't been to that place since high school."

Tammy laughed. "I just went a few weeks ago and Mick had a cup of coffee with me." she pulled in the drive and the place was almost empty. "He said business is slow since school let out but he likes it that way. No annoying brats." she said in a deep voice.

I laughed. "How old is he?"

She shrugged. "Sixty?"

We went inside and took a seat at the counter. The diner looked like something Buddy Holly and Mary Tyler Moore might be in.
