Chapter 12

Captain Lark Minnie's POV

All was set and we were on our way to the ball. The girls looked happy though Lilisa was talking with my nephew and her sister was laughing at what she was saying.

They are such lovely and kind girls because as far as I know, no one would want to get involved in something dangerous.

I sighed while looking at how my nephew was looking at Lilisa. That was the look I once used to give my linked. If only she was still alive. I miss her a lot.

I sighed once again. I hope we find Ethen.

Lilisa's POV

We had arrived at the island an hour ago and had entered the ball with an over enthusiastic host ushering us in with a more than enough complements.

A few gentlemen had asked me to dance with them which I wanted to politely decline but a look and shove from my sister's side, I eventually ended up in the centre of the ball room with my dance partner.

Now after dozens of dances I stood at a quiet and dark corner to rest my feet.

I lightly massaged my ankles to make the pain disappear. Too busy with the actions, I didn't see the person approaching me.

"Such a wonderful event, isn't it." I jumped up at the voice and turned around only to be met with amused eyes of Jordan.

"Don't scare me like that." I exclaimed.

A chuckle escaped his mouth,"I'm sorry, I'll try and send you a warning next time but what if you get scared of the warning. " He once again chuckled.

"Ha ha very funny."

Composing himself he held out his hand to me,"I hope you're not tired enough to not have a dance with me."

"I suppose not."

I placed my hand in his which caused tingles to run up my arm. I gasped but made no move to remove my hand. Jordan looked at me and a look of shock clouded his eyes but he looked away. With that, he led me towards the 'dance floor'.

We soon got hungry and decided to go to the refreshments table and have a snack.

"So, do you like this land so far?" Jordan asked

"It's nice I guess but this place is different from what I'm used to so it's kind of hard to fit in."

"Do you like the people?"

"Yes."

"Do you like me?"

Caught off guard,  I look up into Jordan's eyes to see if he is joking around but I saw complete seriousness and sincerity.

"Do you?" He asked again.

As I was about to answer him Captain Lark Minnie emerged from the crowd and looked at me.

"It's time to go , so can you call..." He finally laid his eyes on Jordan and a look of confusion passed his eyes which he was quick to cover.

"... Lorencia. " Captain Lark ended.

"Um, okay." I replied and made my way into the crowd but a hand on my arm stoped me. Tingles went up my arm telling me the person was Jordan.  I turned around to look at him.

"I'll help."

I just nodded and started walking with Jordan still holding my arm which surprisingly soothed me.
