(averie's POV)

We decided it was for the best if all the Creepy Pastas left the house. They did and went to another house while Slender, Jeff and I trained. It has been about two weeks that I've trained and only successfully summoned Gaea and Hades once.

It was horrifying.

I couldn't see anything, just white light. I could hear the voices of one million people, drowned liars and hung thieves. Inside me, a small, quiet war was starting, and I couldn't do anything to stop it. The voices of the dead overwhelmed and me I attacked anything in my way, without thinking that I was hurting Jeff and Slender. When I opened my eyes, Jeff and Slender collapsed on the ground in exhaustion.

And then, soon after, I collapsed.

"averie?" Jeff asked laying his hand on my shoulder and snapping me out of my train of thoughts. "You don't have to do this you know." He said, sounding hopeful.

I sighed and rubbed my forehead in frustration, "Jeff..."

"I know, I'm sorry." Jeff said not letting me finish. "I just can't live without you." He breathed, pulling me into a hug.

I laid my head on his chest, just like when he saved me from the Rake. His heart beat was fast and incredibly loud. Jeff leaned down into my hair and kissed the top of my head. I inhaled his scent, nothing in specific, he just smelled like, well, Jeff. I ran my hands through his disheveled midnight-black hair.

"averie..."

"Don't worry," I interjected, "I'll always come back to you. No matter what." I said smiling up at him.

His expression softened and he cupped my chin with his hands pulling me into a kiss. I clenched my eyes shut, to prevent tears from slipping out. We were so close that I could feel his breath on my lips when Slender coughed at the door way.

"I hate to interrupt you–I really do– but a little bird just told me that Zalgo is coming." Slender said, fumbling with his tie nervously.

"What?" I demanded distancing myself from Jeff.

"I'm afraid so. Are you ready?" Slender asked, directing the question to both Jeff and I.

I glanced up at Jeff, who's jet black eyes were glossy with tears. I laid my hand on his cheek and made him look at me.

"Hey, it's going to be okay. alright ?" I asked.

Jeff gave a curt nod in response. All of a sudden, there was a rumble outside.

"Looks like he's here." slender said

My muscles tensed and my body shook.

It's not going to be okay.

(Jeff's POV)

As averie, Slender and I made our way outside, I couldn't help but feel a little sick. Deep in my stomach, I had this sickening feeling that nothing would be okay. There was going to be no happy ending. But then, looking at averie, there was a small, sliver of hope. Once outside, the first thing we see was Zalgo...in his true form. He was horrifying.

A huge cross between a lion and a bear. His skin was like a dark black pavement, cracked and uneven. Between the cracks, power, red like blood, erupted out of them. He was a horrible chimera. A hybrid, combined with a volcano. averie stepped up, causing Zalgo to smile a wide, toothy, crooked grin.

"averie, dearie. I didn't think you'd actually show up." Zalgo said as he loosed a low growl.

In front of me, averie chuckled ever so slightly, "and why wouldn't I show up?"

"Because, my dear. I am far too powerful." Zalgo said with a sneer.

"I doubt that."

At that, averie called out to Gaea and Hades. I had to look away, the power that surrounded her was blinding. Zalgo hissed in anger and lunged himself at averie. but she easily sidestepped his attack and Zalgo came skidding to a halt, missing Slender and me by inches. averie lunged herself at Zalgo now that he was on the ground. She gashed his skin and dug all her powers into him. She sent furies of shards of ice and fire.

Zalgo hissed in anger and lunged himself at averie, clawing at her stomach and making three long gashes across it. averie screamed in agony and came tumbling to the ground faster than a sinking stone.

"averie !" I screamed and ran over to her.

I jumped and caught her midair. I came tumbling to the ground, holding averie close to me. Once we were done rolling, I checked on her, the wound was already closing and she was already pushing me away. She lunged herself at Zalgo again and stabbed him in both eyes, causing him to roar in pain. He threw averie off of him and clawed angrily at his own eyes. averie smiled a grim smile and flew over to Zalgo, taking one of her ice shards and cutting open Zalgo's mouth into a wide, reckless smile, much like mine. Zalgo roared once more and changed back to his original form. He was covered in blood and cowered on the ground, whimpering and sobbing to himself.

"Please, have mercy on me averie!" He screamed as he held his eyes and blood soaked his entire body.

"averie is not here."

At that, she opened up a portal, the ground split open, revealing the dead. Zalgo screamed as they dragged him down and into the ground. Before he was completely submerged, averie grabbed him roughly by his cheeks and squeezed his face.

"If we see you again," a female and male voice replaced averie's, "we'll kill you." They hissed, letting Zalgo sink down into the ground.

"averie?" I asked reproachfully, carefully making my way over to her.

averie whirled around, her eyes back to normal but the wound in her stomach returning. She coughed and blood erupted from her mouth. She glanced up at me, her eyes glossy with tears and reached out to me.

"Jeff?" She asked before she collapsed onto the ground.

I ran over to her, feeling tears run down my face and seep into the corners of my mouth. my tears were overpowering and the tears soaked my shirt. I picked her up and she smiled weakly as she gagged on her own blood.

"I...will...not make..this one..." averie said through small gasps of air that she managed to steal.

I screamed in anger and looked up, unwilling to see my tears come crash down onto averie's bloody and scared face. I felt a small, cold hand on my cheek.

"I'll always be around, look," she said pointing at the trees.

"The trees?" I asked.

She gave me a small curt nod, "We are strong like them. With ferocious roots that attack the ground, and furious teeth that never quit clawing at the sky. Just think of me as the trees." she said.

I glanced down at her feet. She was fading away.

"Will I see you again?" I asked as a sob ripped itself from my chest.

averie smiled and nodded, "I'll find a way back."

I pressed my forehead to hers and kissed her gently, stopping when she separated from me.

"I...love...you..." she said with her dying breath.

And she was gone.

averie said she'd be back.

But unlike last time...she didn't promise...
