The New Man and My Baby

Chapter 1

             Sitting on the side if the bed, Karri Nelli Capri thought of the horrible day of work she had ahead of her. Sometimes work was a major pain in the ass she thought, but hey the money was good right and she met some pretty fresh people at her job. She was under the senior VP of Hott Taste magazine. She loved her work, besides being the youngest person there, only by a few months, it was grand. She made her own hours, had someone to yell at when she got yelled at so life was all great for her.

 That was until I met Nick Amar Blank-field. He was a dirty rotten piece of no good man and not worth the air that he took up every day but truth of the matter was I love him. He works in the advertising section of the magazine and thinks he's worth more money than he makes, but he's not and everyone knows that accept me. I just can't leave him. I don't know why but it's like my heart is glued to him no matter how hard I pull away, even though I'm not pulling that hard. We have out times when we fight, but every time we always kiss and make up, and boy do we know how to make up. Lately Nick has been at work a lot and I know that is that major sign that someone is cheating, but really what's a relationship without trust? I don't know I will have "the talk" with him when he comes home. Tonight is our five year anniversary and I have some really great news.

Nine-thirty rolls around and no Nick, so I decided to give him a little jingle on his cell phone. "Nick baby where are you?"

"On my way sweetie, just had to pick up a few things."

"Great because the food is getting cold and I really need to talk to you about some things."

"Work?"

"Among other things also."

"OK well just give me like twenty minutes and I will be home."

"OK." Time to get this show on the road, no beating around the bush this time. When he gets home, give him a good talking to, and then let him know I'm two months pregnant. We had been trying to get pregnant for the last two years, but then there had been a point in time when we thought it was impossible for me to have a baby. The doctors said there was nothing wrong with us so there was no reason why we weren't getting pregnant.

"Karri where are you?"

"I'm in the kitchen."

"OK, I'll be there in a minute."

"Sure, but hurry up, the food is getting cold and I hope you're hungry since I made all of your favorites. Do you want to do you want to do gifts before or after dinner?"

"Can we just talk first before we get to doing any of that stuff Karri?"

"Sure we can talk right now if you'd like, that just means you can tell me where the hell you been at all these nights, and don't say working Nick because, damn I'd like to think I'm not really that dumb OK."

"Well then, since you have to put it like that, then I will just tell you the truth."

"Oh god let's do that, or will it kill you first?"

"Dammit Karri, why are you being like this tonight, right now?"

"Being like what. You know what I was all happy all day like I didn't know what was going on, but guess what Nicky, I'm not as dumb as you seem to think I am. I was hopping that this anniversary would be different from the last three but I see now that it's not. We are always fighting and I was hoping that tonight would be better but I could tell when you didn't come home on time that it's not. So let's cut the shit and get right down to business. That's how you like everything, right down to the point right."
