It felt like my heart had stopped beating, as I stared at Aaron's limp body sprawled on the floor.
"Aaron!" I sobbed, crawling over to him.
I pulled him so he was lying on his back, his face resting on my lap. He was covered in blood, but I noticed the deep wound on his stomach. He groaned, his eyes fluttering half open.
"Carmen?" He croaked out, his face contorted in obvious pain.
"Aaron," I sobbed, pushing away the black strands of hair that fell on his forehead.
"They told us you were actually working with Vertex," he managed to say. My head zoomed back to him, his brown eyes fixed straight on me.
"I knew you weren't because I trusted you," he croaked, closing his eyes once again. " And they were wrong," he finished, clenching his eyes shut on what I presumed he must of felt a lot more pain. I took off my jacket and pressed it on his wound, that was seeping deep red blood.
"Stay with me Aaron," I ordered firmly as he started to drift off. "We are getting help."
He lifted a weak arm and touched my cheek lightly. I bent down without hesitating and pressed my lips to his softly. A shiver went down my spine as his lips met mine and for a moment, I forgot my problems. I slowly pulled away as footsteps raced down the hallway and burst inside.
Nurses in white uniform filled the room, kneeling down and helping those injured. A nurse with soft eyes kneeled down next to Aaron as he closed his eyes. He flashed them open once more as a stretcher was brought and said 3 words that made me cry even more.
"I love you."
"And I love you," I sobbed, standing up and watching as the nurses rushed him off. His face suddenly looked peaceful his chest rising and falling steadily.
I sobbed harder, putting my hands on my face, my own clothes stained from Aaron's blood.

I walked to the window and looked outside to see soon after an aircraft lifting off with the rest of the group climbing inside. Emma's face was red with fury, and for a moment I was sure that she noticed me in the window.
But I wasn't sure.
