The tiny little amount of tolerance Monae had kept exploded in that moment. She gripped the handles of the chair she sat in and looked Blaine straight in the eyes, "Nobody in their right mind would fall in love with a snobby rich pedophile who brought an actual human being with all her bloody money!"
Snobby? Pedophile? Blaine was rather surprised by the kid's outburst. She didn't expect the young girl to have the guts to speak to her in that manner.
Blaine laughed in amusement and smiled in Monae's face. "If you say so," Blaine spoke clearly and removed herself from the shadow she casted upon Monae.
Monae was a baby ant compared to Blaine. She scoffed and stood up from her seat, "Will you let me go?" "-Nope," she replied. Monae snapped, "Why! I have a life! I go to college. I'm so close to gaining my scholarship. I can't leave that behind!"
Blaine simply watched the young girl pace back and forth. When Monae noticed this she stopped her pacing and stared at Blaine as if she had two antennas.
"Good. You're calm I suppose?" Blaine asked and Monae gripped her fists. "Good." Blaine moved on, "You owe 200,000 dollars so you will work for me until your debt is paid. If you didn't know... you're no longer an American citizen. To the outside world you're dead. Once you've paid what's due I'll recover your citizenship and have you admitted to the best college in this state."
Monae gawked in shock, "I-I'm no longer a citizen?! What? Where exactly am I!"
Blaine ignored her reaction, "I do not repeat myself so you better listen when I speak. There are rules so you must listen closely," Blaine began. Monae grit her teeth and nodded in response. Blaine grinned at the young girl, "Good. No smoking, no drugs, no mess, no back-talking, no pets, and no attitude then we'll be just fine. If you need to go anywhere you will need my approval first and that is it," Blaine stated in her aggressive voice.
Monae only nodded in response. It was obvious to her that she had no choice. This woman did save her from a life or death situation. Monae didn't want to be selfish so she decided to be grateful.
Blaine sighed in content where she leaned against her desk. "You say you're in college. May I ask what your age is?"
Monae kept her gaze on the woman's compelling green eyes. She didn't understand why she was so comfortable around someone she only knew for a few minutes. "I'm a eighteen year old student." Monae decided to be honest.
Blaine raised a brow, "Smart girl. I would've guessed you were at least 15 years old with that baby face of yours."
Monae didn't expect to find herself blushing. She adverted her gaze so the woman's prying eyes wouldn't notice the effect her comment had on her.
"What about you?" Monae asked while she braced herself for the answer. Blaine met her gaze and Monae began to regret her question. Was it polite to ask a woman of her age? She began to regret even more yet Blaine seemed unfazed.
"I am 22 years old," Blaine answered the question. Monae snapped her gaze to Blaine, "Really?" She was not expecting that answer. No, Blaine looked anything but old. It was simply her maturity, demeanor, and wealth. Monae was speechless. "What're you? A 22 year old millionaire?" Blaine looked pleased.
"At least you figured it out yourself," she stood up and sat in her leather desk chair. "You may leave. I have work to do and you have food to eat," Blaine sighed.
Monae then remembered and nodded a thanks before leaving the neat office. The door was shut closed and Blaine let out a breath she never knew she had held. Her heart was racing and she didn't know why. She's never been so nervous in front of someone before. She hoped Monae didn't notice- no... she didn't care, that's right. Yet, what was this feeling she felt?
