PeacefulUp on the hillside, we sat together, settled in a warm embrace, watching the sunset as it bled into the evening sky. The canvas of an autumn rainbow - rich crimson and auburn colours tainted with the soft citrus hues from the glowing sun, which crept behind the line of hills in the far distance.
A slight breeze was picking up which didn't bother me as my hair billowed lightly, the bitterness of it, a paradox with the heat from his cheek upon my head. His arm was curved lightly around my waist, his hand entwined with my right. I nestled deeper into the crook of this neck, watching his fingers fiddle with mine, each touch sending a warmth that filled my chest. He hummed softly, a familiar tune that made me smile as I sighed happily. I felt his chest tighten as he let out a small chuckle.
"The sky looks so peaceful," I whispered, squeezing his hand, which he returned back.
"Peaceful is nice," he replied, "regarding exams and school."
I hummed in agreement as I drew away from his warm chest and looked up at him sleepily, my eyes feeling heavy but my heart was beating faster as our eyes locked and a billion butterflies were released. Our hands ungrasped. His hazel eyes were dulcet and gentle, a wild and deep forest that stood so sturdy and calm yet held many secrets and magic. His lips curved into a eccentric smile as he gazed at me in that way that he'd been doing for months - his soft dimples forming on both sides of this lips and tiny creases around his lit up eyes, twinkling. His dark hair flopped over his forehead and I felt a strong urge to run my fingers through it. I held myself back.
"Seas are also peaceful," I chimed in, taking his hands back into mine as our attention redirected at our laced fingers, "blue seas and oceans."
He looked back into my eyes, taking them in for a silent moment before speaking.
"Your eyes are oceans."
I blushed, beaming so brightly that I thought my cheeks were going to pop. My gaze hit the ground as I bit my lips lightly to hold back my elation. The tingling euphoria sparking and setting my lungs alight with a warmth that filled my chest. I could sense him leaning in closer and, slowly, carefully, tentatively, he held my face softly in his hands, thumb caressing my cheekbone. I looked up at him. He was already gazing at me, a twinkle in his eyes as his lips curled into a smile once more. A smile that made me uncontrollable beam back all over again. I blushed. He flustered, his gaze hitting the ground for a moment before meeting my eyes again. He looked at my lips. We were edging closer and closer, my breath hitching slightly as I closed my eyes. I felt his lips brush against mine tentatively, a small rush of warmth flooding the skin on my cheeks. It was so tiny and quick, and the moment it was gone, all I wanted was to feel his lips against mine once more.
He leant back, flustered and shy all of a sudden as he looked at me, then at the ground, back at me. I chuckled nervously, unclasping my laced fingers as I suddenly brung my hand to the nape of his neck, feeling the soft hair from the back of his head on my fingertips. Our lips were instantly locked as I leant over his laid down form. My hands were in his hair. His were holding my waist.
We were closer and closer, straddling his torso as he deepened the kiss. He tasted like chocolate. A mixture of rich dark chocolate and cinnamon swirling against my lips. With his warm body pressed up against mine, I could feel every muscle tense and soften in unison as we moved closer and closer still. I felt the skin on either side of my waist heat up as his hands slipped under my top, caressing me as though I was as delicate as porcelain.
He was everywhere.
His lips trailing along my collar bone, up my neck, across my cheek from my jaw. They landed upon my swollen lips like droplets of warm water. Fingers tickling my spine, palms pressing my back blades as our lips fumbled intoxicatingly. Every time we broke apart, he began at the corners once more. His hands caressed my stomach. I felt his hair stick up as I ran my fingers through it as though every hair was a blade of grass in a carpeted meadow of green. Mouths clashing, I felt his dewy lips open, trying to deepen the kiss. However, as his hands travelled up further, I withdrew and traced my fingertips across his jaw and down his bottom lip. His eyes fluttered open. Rosy-cheeked, drowsy-eyed and tousled hair, he sat up and regained his focus as he calmed his heaving breaths.
"Y-You know that feeling," he began, gazing into my eyes as he fought for breath, "when it's like you've fallen into another world but you know? You're still here, as in, on Earth."
My focus was dazzling everywhere from his eyes to the disappearing sun, senses on overload. However, I nodded.
"That felt just like that."
