When I opened the door Charlie rushed over to me, I hushed him to make sure Tay didn't wake up from the noise. I really don't feel like telling her where I had been. I shut the door ever so slightly and began to make my way to my room. "Where were you?" I turned around and saw Taylor coming out of her room with an empty bowl.

I guess I should've seen that coming. "I was just going to check the mail and uh decided to take a short walk."

She studied me, I could tell she was questioning me in her head. "Uh huh...are you sure that's where you were, 'cause you never do that, and it's been a while since you left."

"What do you mean?" I asked, hoping this wouldn't turn into some big thing causing an argument.

She placed her bowl in the sink and pulled the hair tie off her wrist to put her hair up, "I mean I woke up an hour ago and you weren't here."

"Just trying to burn some calories, ya know."

Her eyes narrowed and she made a high pitched 'hm' sound, studying me and then regaining eye contact. "So you went out wearing that?" She walks around to the part of the counter closest to me and leans back on it, crossing her arms.

I hurriedly pondered through my brain to find a way out of this without starting a roommate war, and the truth isn't going to help me more than the little white lie I'm about to create in hopes to seize her evident suspicion.

I just through it on it's really not a big deal, when my sister called me this morning I got into a small argument with her and I needed to get out and get some air and just walk around for a bit, and before you ask - no, I don't want to talk about it." That was pretty good, huh, I think I might've even convinced myself it happened.

Tay's arms loosened and empathy replaced a once accusatory demeanor. "Okay that's fine, sorry. If you wanna talk about it later you know I'll be here to listen." She said.

I thanked her in a soft tone to make it seem as if I was sad, before entering my room and shutting the door behind me. I let out a small sigh of relief, even though I know she's still pretty suspicious.

hey i made it in tay was awake tho, kept asking me questions

a few seconds later my phone pinged.

K: well I mean it's not the worst thing in the world if she knows you were with me

I read kian's annoyingly mellow text in his voice, he has no a care in the world that Tay could potentially get really upset with me.

i know that kian it's just not an argument i'm trying to get into with her right now...

K: I honestly think that's such an easy cop out but whatever you say goes

I start to feel myself getting upset already, the speed of my typing is a clear sign of that.

cop out? what am i possibly 'copping out' of, please do explain

K: not telling her the truth right now because you're afraid of the truth

i'm not afraid of anything..and what truth???
