Dear journal,
I figured that a large proportion of life is to accept and love yourself. I mean, if you don’t, who else will?
After you love yourself you achieve lots of things. Firstly you accept yourself as you are and your attitude towards other people changes a lot. You realise it doesn’t matter what people that don’t matter think of you.
When you love yourself it doesn’t mean you are perfect. You accept yourself for both your imperfections and your strengths. Also it means you can always improve yourself on your imperfections to make yourself a better person if that is what you yearn for.
“Loving yourself…does not mean being self-absorbed or narcissistic, or disregarding others. Rather it means welcoming yourself as the most honoured guest in your own heart, a guest worthy of respect, a lovable companion.”- Margo Anand
I’ve heard a quote that says about loving yourself before you love someone else or something like that. Journal, I don’t know about you, but I find that quote to be false. Before I started to accept myself and love myself I loved my mum and also my dad before he left. Maybe it helps, but I don’t think of it to be true.
If you love yourself, that’s a big step towards loving life and towards being happy eventually.
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself." -Thich Nhat Hanh

Short StoryIt's easy to be happy right? Stick on a smile and voilà! Everyone assumes you're happy. How deceiving smiles can be. As much as you can fool other people with the mask you wear, you can never fool yourself. I'm Carrie. This is my journal.
