Truth Or Dare : Reunion

Chapter 12.

Jane's POV.

I just stood there staring at his face. The face that used to be mine, the face I held in my hands and kissed whenever I wished. But now it was the face that belonged to be held in another woman's hands.

I realized soon after that everyone was staring at us waiting to say something. Our greeting couldn't have been any more awkward and now everyone's waiting to see what's gonna happen next.

Before I could say what was gonna come out of my mouth, Mason beat me to it.

"You look great." He said so quickly that I didn't even notice his arms were on each side of me and wrapping me in a hug.

My eyes averted to the person in front of me.

'Hug him' Ashley mouthed to me.

I slowly moved my arms and rested them on his back.

"You look great too." I whispered not wanting him to hear, but hoping he does.

He smiled after we parted and so did I. Alain quickly started a conversation with him to avoid any more awkwardness and i sat back down on the couch next to Hayden.

"That was awkward." She said holding back a smirk.

"Speak for yourself." I said as Matt walked in.

"Matt." Brinn went and hugged him as Brian and the others followed and so did I.

"Hayden, hey." He said staring at her waiting to speak a word.

"Who's awkward now." I said taking a sip and sat back down.

"Not me." She said and went up straight and hugged him. "How are you? You look great."

Matt hugged her as well and when they parted, the look on Hayden's face made it obvious that she acted without thinking and made things more awkward.

When she came and sat next to me again I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off before the words came out.

"Don't." She warned and i laughed.

Hayden's POV

Awkward didn't even cover it. I have no idea what's going on with me, I don't know how I feel or who I have feelings for anymore. I obviously love Amelia, but I also love Matt. A part of me always did and seeing him today confirmed that.

He looked gorgeous with that stupid boyish smile and he made me feel like a love struck teenager again. When he walked through that door, that's when I realized that the love I have for Amelia is not the same kind of love that I have for Matt.

I went to the cashier to order us some breakfast, after I put the order in, I looked at my friends and couldn't help but smile.

We have all changed so much. We were grown, it's not everyday you see friends from high school still hanging out after marriage and kids and life in general. I looked at Katherine how big her belly was, she was laughing at something I couldn't pin my finger on, and Dylan was smiling at her and the way his eyes sparkled when they landed on Katherine was how every girl wanted a guy to look at them. I saw how the guys were still close and talked about sports and how us girls were as close as we were in high school. The whole image of the gang reminded me of those high school days.

"You can go ahead, the waiter will bring your order." The cashier snapped me back to reality. I smiled at her and went ahead and sat down again.

A few more minutes later our order arrived and so the real talk began.

"Alright, I don't mean to ruin this, but are you guys ready for tonight?" Mason asked.

"I don't think it is possible to be ready." Brian said taking another bite of his breakfast.

"We're here, and we're going, so I guess that makes us close to ready." Ashley said.

I looked between us and realized that everyone had stopped eating, no one had an appetite to eat or talk anymore.

"Come on guys, let's not let this ruin our day, we're finally here. All of us together again, it's just a stupid reunion." I said.

My words may have helped my friends to regain their strengths back again, but I don't know how I got them out of my mouth. It was the hardest thing I have ever said, even though it seemed like something easy and simple, it took guts to say it. Because it was something I didn't even believe, it was something I needed to hear not say, but seeing as no one else had the courage to comfort us I had to be the one to say it.

"You're right Hayden." Jane said with a smile and everyone else followed with nods and smiles of their own.
