Allison's POV
The first day of my senior year finally was there. The day I was so scared of all that time. If I only knew it wouldn't be as horrible as I thought. It was weird knowing that Matt or Nicole wouldn't come by in the hallways to talk to me while I grab things out of my locker. Johnson did come by but it was obvious that he was having a hard time trying to treat his three best friends equally since none of us talk anymore. I felt bad for Johnson, I wanted to change the situation for him but I couldn't. He told me multiple times that he didn't care but everyone who knew Johnson longer than a day could tell he was lying. One thing I was scared of did happen; when Johnson wasn't around I was alone and I didn't hear from Gilinsky yet. He should've been home by that time since school has started but no call or text. I was thinking about Gilinsky and where he could be during chemistry class until an old friend of mine sat on the empty seat next to me. It was Charlie Manson. He was friends with Josh and was in the same football team back in sophomore year but we didn't talk much after the break up. The first break up to be clear. Charlie was the only friend of Josh's I actually liked, he was spontaneous, kind, very funny and knew how to get a good conversation going so I was happy when I found out we shared a class and that he didn't completely forget my existence.
"How have you been?" He asked me.
"I'm doing fine." I lied. "What about you? Still on the football team I've heard."
He chuckled. "Yea, I actually became captain last year and probably continue doing that this year. I mean our team kinda sucks and I don't want to brag but I'm actually one of the players who can throw a ball in the right direction." I laughed. It was true, our football team wasn't the greatest and I can't remember a game we won but I wasn't paying attention to it after Josh and I broke up. He is the reason I know everything about that sport so now when I watch the Super Bowl I actually understand what's happening. "And how are you feeling?"
"I already told you I'm—"
"Allison," He cut me off. "I know we haven't really talked during junior year but I do still know when you lie so tell me how you're feeling and please be honest this time."
I sighed. "Empty, and you probably already know why."
"I actually don't. What happened?"
"Well, last year I got a boyfriend and he cheated on me with my best friend before the summer."
"Ahh, I've heard about the boyfriend— sorry ex-boyfriend. Matt was his name, right?" I nodded. "And the best friend?"
"Nicole."
"I've heard about her too. Wasn't she dating Jack Gilinsky?"
"I don't even know. I'd ask him but he left for the summer and still isn't back. He can't use internet and no one has heard from him."
Charlie looked confused. "No internet?"
"It's a long story."
He nodded. "So I guess because of the cheating the whole group must've fell apart."
"Yep, now the only friend I have in this school is Johnson."
"Cute, short and blond?"
"That's the guy." I laughed at Charlie describing him.
