I hurriedly shoved my clothes into my trunk, grabbed my wallet and put my wand in my boot. I tip toed out of the room, silently begging Hermione wouldn't wake.
I'm running away. I can't stand anybody at the moment, they never leave me alone. I need time to think and all the memories are hurting me.
One of the steps creaked under me. I held my breath and waited for any sound. Nothing. I exhaled and continued down the stairs until I reached the kitchen. I walked in and over to the fireplace. Thankfully there was still floo powder on to mantelpiece.
"Leaky Cauldron!" I whispered loudly and felt myself start spinning.
I tumbled out of the new grate. It was quiet around me.
"M'am?"
The voice startled me and caused me to shriek. The voice came from the butler, Tom. "Sorry Tom, you gave me a fright."
"Sorry m'am. Would you like a room m'am or are you just passing through?" He asked helping me up.
"A room thank you," I handed him some galleons.
"Come with me." He led me up the rickety staircase and stopped on the third floor.
"Room 18 is available." He handed me the key and left.
I walked along the hall and found 18. I opened it.
The room had a queen bed with bedside tables either side and a large dressing table opposite the window. Their was a closet beside it and an entrance to the ensuite.
I pulled my trunk in and looked out the window. It was starting to get light outside. The view was of London, in the distance I could see Big Ben. Yawning, I walked over to the bed and lay down. Almost immediately I fell asleep.
~~~
The sound of trains woke me up. I groaned and rolled over to check the clock, 1:00pm. I pulled myself out of bed and walked to the bathroom.
After showering I put on some jeans, a baggy top and my red converse. I concentrated in the mirror trying to change my appearance. My hair flickered a pale blonde but then changed back to brown, my regular colour.
"Come on!" I hissed at my reflection. My hair changed to the blonde again, for a little longer, before it returned. "Why aren't you working?" I questioned my metamorphagus powers.
I eventually gave up and put on a beanie and sunglasses, as I didn't want anyone to recognise me. I picked up my wand and walked out of my room and downstairs to the Diagon Alley entrance. I tapped my wand on the bricks and walked through.
Diagon Alley was buzzing with witches and wizards of all ages. Some wore normal clothes while others looked completely bizarre. I opened my book list and made my way to Flourish and Blotts. I pushed open the door and looked around the shop. I was thankful that it was empty. I walked to the Grade 6 spell books.
"Can I help you dear?" An old lady asked.
"No thanks." I replied and began grabbing the books I needed.
"Fred and George, go find your books, Ginny come over here and we'll find yours." I heard a familiar voice say.
I gasped and hid behind the bookshelf, only peeking out to see where they were. The caring, red head mother was leading her daughter to the other side of the room, while my two best friends had disappeared.
Suddenly I felt a pair of hands cover my eyes.
"You know you have us all worried sick about you?" One of the twins whispered in my ear.
I spun around and held up my wand threateningly, "Say anything and I will hex you. How did you know it was me?"
They chuckled.
"Well you're our best friend and your red converse are pretty obvious. Why did you leave?" George answered.
I shrugged, "I had to get away, I can't stand any of you. So if you will excuse me, I have to go and pay for these." I picked up my books and walked to the counter. I quickly paid the woman and hurried out of the shops leaving my friends in there, mouths agape.
I ran as fast as I could, with my shopping and without bumping into anyone, back to the Leaky Cauldron. I ran up to my room and barged in, gasping for air. Why did they have to be there?
~~~
"All aboard." I heard the conductor yell. I was already in a compartment, door locked and the blinds shut. I was hoping for some peace and quiet. The train began to move and pick up speed. I lay my head back on the seat and drifted off.
~~~
I skipped the feast. Too many people for my liking. On the platform I could hear people talking about me. I didn't need to hear more of that.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I quickly shut my eyes, pretending I was asleep.
"I know you're awake. Get up Maia!" Hermione snapped.
I rolled my eyes and sat up, "Hi."
Hermione was closer than I thought. She was glaring at me. The thing she did next, shocked me completely. She swung her hand back and slapped me on the cheek, hard.
"What the-"
"That, was for making us all worried sick! Remus is a mess! Everyone has been looking for you! Are you that selfish?" She shouted.
I blinked back tears, "Hermione, I left because of all of you! I never got a second alone!
She scoffed, "Oh yeah?! We're trying to help you!"
"You don't understand." I whispered laying on my bed as rolling over.
"Whatever." She growled and I heard her stomp away.
