"Have fun Hermione! Happy Christmas!" I yelled over the crowd of students departing Kings Cross for the Christmas break. More and more parents were insisting their children should leave Hogwarts as it was 'too dangerous'.
"Happy Christmas Maia!" Hermione called back, and soon she was gone.
"Come on, Mum's waiting for us just outside the barrier." Ginny said, pulling me through the crowd. I could see Ron and Harry up a head, walking through the barrier.
Mrs Weasley greeted us as soon as we passed through the brick wall, then immediately she apparated us all to the Burrow, barely giving us a chance to take a breath.
"Welcome Weasleys! And Harry and Maia!" Mr Weasley cheered as we walked through the door. A yummy scent of Christmas Pudding, roast turkey and potatos wafted past my nose.
"That smells fantastic Mrs Weasley!" Harry complimented before I could.
"Thank you dear, we're having Christmas dinner tonight, Remus is coming over with Tonks because tomorrow is a full moon." Mrs Weasley directed the last part to me.
"Thanks Mrs Weasley." I replied smiling and pulling my trunk up the stairs to Ginny's room.
"I hope you don't mind sharing." Ginny said as she opened the door.
"Not at all." I answered, taking in the surroundings of her room. There was two single beds, one occupying each wall, there was a wooden desk by the window, looking out into the field of green grass. Glued to the walls were posters of Gwenog Jones and the Holyhead Harpies, Gryffindor flags and pictures of Ginny with her family and friends.
"Your room is amazing!" I grinned pulling my trunk to the spare bed.
"Thanks, I did it up last summer."
~~~
"Maia." Remus led me to a room while Mrs Weasley was serving up the dinner. "Dumbledore told me that he wants you to become a spy for the Order."
"He did? But he told me not to tell anyone." I frowned.
"Maia you must not do it. I don't want you being put in danger like that. Voldemort is unpredictable, in a spur of the moment he could kill you. Please don't accept Dumbledore." Remus begged.
"I don't know." I replied in a whisper, I had made up my mind only days ago, and now Remus was adding another bunch of cons to my decision.
"You can't. As your godfather I am forbidding you to join Voldemort. I can't lose you."
"Remus, I-"
"Maia. Promise me."
I sighed and ran my hand through my long hair, "Fine. I promise." Lie.
"Good, I can't believe Dumbledore would ask such a thing." He growled. I put an arm on his shoulder,
"Just stop thinking about it and let's go have dinner." I pulled Remus back out to the Weasley's dining room, where the red heads were sitting down waiting to eat. George had saved me a seat next to him and Fred.
"You ok?" He whispered as I sat down.
I nodded and served myself some roast potatos, turkey and gravy.
"Merry Christmas!" Mr Weasley cheered holding his glass up. We all clinked glasses and the room fell silent for everyone was devouring their delicious meal.
~~~
"Maia hurry up!" Fred pounded on the bathroom door.
"Just wait Fred!" I called back, combing my hair.
"Addy is gonna be here in five minutes, I need to shower!"
I sighed and opened the door. Fred hurried through and I shut the door behind me and walked to Ginny's room. As I was walking along the hallway I felt a hand grab mine and pull me into a room. It was George.
"You git! You frightened me!" I clutched my chest, my heart was racing.
He smirked, "Sorry."
I lightly hit his shoulder.
"Since Fred is in the shower, I wanted to give you my gift now."
"George I told you, you didn't have to get me anything." I pouted.
George leant forwards and locked his lips with mine, I smiled against him and snaked my arms around his neck, however, too soon he pulled away. "Happy Christmas beautiful." He pecked my nose and handed me a long, purple box with silver string wrapped neatly around it. I opened it and inside, laying against a soft pillow was a silver necklace with a heart, diamond encrusted pendant.
"George!" I scolded hitting his arm lightly, but failing to control the grin on my face. It was beautiful.
He chuckled and kissed my cheek, "Let me put it on you."
I smiled and lifted my hair, he clipped the chain and the pendant rested softly, just below my collarbone. "I have something for you too." I admitted biting my lip.
"Maia I told you, you didn't have to get me anything!" He mimicked in a sassy voice. I burst out laughing.
"Can you please accio it here?" I asked.
He nodded and waved my wand, I opened his door and the big box flew into his room. It was wrapped in gold, christmassy paper with small red Christmas tree patterns.
George tore open the present and his eyes wided, sitting in the box was the Firebolt 90 Dragon. I laughed at his reaction, he had frozen, his mouth had dropped and his eyes were as large as a bludger.
"Happy Christmas!" I grinned.
George looked up, "Maia, this is too much, I can't accept this..."
"Don't be stupid. Anyway your mother wants you downstairs by 10." And with that I darted out of the room before he could decline his gift once more.
"Maia!" Adeline greeted, appearing around the corner.
"Hey Addy, happy Christmas! Fred is in the shower."
"Thanks, happy Christmas to you to!" She replied, her tone was different. Not its usual perky pitch.
"Are you alright?" I ask stepping closer.
She stepped back, "I'm fine." She stammered. I looked closely at her face. She was definetely lying. She had dark shadows under her eyes and a cut above her eyebrow which she had attempted to conceal with makeup.
I bit my lip but stepped aside for her to pass. After chucking my clothes in the wash basket in Ginny's room, I began to make my way downstairs.
The Christmas tree was lit up, the warmth from the fireplace radiated around the room and the smell of pine from the tree filled my nose. All the wrapping paper, from earlier this morning, lay in a bundle beside the empty tree.
Mrs Weasley was fussing in the kitchen again, muttering things like "Its always Muriel who invites herself!" and "They could have given me an earlier notice!"
"Are you alright Mrs Weasley?" I interrupted.
"Yes thank you dear." And with that she returned to her cooking.
"Mum, I thought you said we weren't having a Christmas lunch?" George asked, walking into the room and stopping beside me.
"You're Aunt Muriel has decide to come over for lunch and has invited the rest of that family. Please go and help your father outside Fred." She bustled around the kitchen pouring spices into the saucepan.
"I mean George." She added after a moment.
