There was a loud bang, like a door being slammed, and then the cold, unknown hand released my mouth. The room was pitch black and my wand was missing from my hand, again. A high, cold laugh filled the room, sending a shiver down my spine.

"Well, well, well, you certainly look like your mother, dear Maia." The voice returned.

"Where a-are you!" I stuttered, nervously standing up and feeling around for my opponent.

The voice laughed again and slowly the lights came on, though only dimly. Voldemort stood across from me, a wicked smile on his face. His red eyes and slit for nostrils made me want to cower into the shadows.

"Look how much you've grown since I last saw you!"

"What are you talking about? You've never seen me before in my life!" I sneered, silently praying for my life. This man could decide to kill me at any second and I wouldn't even have a chance to defend.

"Oh but that is where you're wrong, I saw you when you were a tiny baby." He tsked.

"Yeah right." I really couldn't help myself. My attitude was just rolling off my tongue.

"That scar on your lower back, that one that is coincidentally shaped like my Dark Mark? I gave it to you."

I subconsciously wrapped my arms around my stomach, and my fingertips traced the faint scar under my shirt.

"That's right." His red eyes gleamed in the faint light.

"So what. What do you want with me anyway?" I demanded, dropping my hands to my side.

He chuckled, "I think you already know the answer Maia. You're very intelligent and courageous. Oh and the great power you posses; it's just what I'm looking for."

I glared, "I would never, ever, ever, join you."

"So much like your mother." He wandered forwards and stretched his cold, pale hand towards my hair, as if to brush it away.

I shied away, "Don't."

He laughed and held up his wand, "Join me Maia and we can be powerful. We can conquer death and everyone will bow down to us."

"I don't want that!" I growled, stepping around him. "You have know idea what it's like to have family and friends who love you because you have nobody! I don't want stupid power or servants."

He laughed loudly and the sound echoed around the room, "Oh Maia. Crucio!"

I flinched, expecting the same pain Bellatrix gave me, but instead I felt nothing.

"Crucio!" Voldemort screamed again, slicing his wand through the air.

Again nothing.

I frowned and looked around to see if anyone was protecting me with the shield charm, but the room was empty.

"My my, what control you have. You can master your pain." He sneered, stepping closer.

This time it was my turn to laugh, "Evil never wins Voldemort."

"Oh, I will win, I will always win, but I don't need you on my side."

"So I can go?" I asked cheekily, raising my eyebrows.

"You can go, just...in a different way. I wonder if you can protect yourself from the Killing Curse?"

I gulped and frantically searched the room for my wand. It was laying on the floor, on the opposite side of the room; no way could I reach it before he killed me.
