Day Seven: Character That Grew On You

Well, some of you might not expect that. Uh, guess? Because I've never really been shown to be a fan of his, but yes.

Squad's Six Lieutenant Renji Abarai.

What can I say? I thought this guy was an asshole at first, seeing how he treated Rukia at the first half of the Soul Society Arc. But as the arc progressed, I saw a brighter light to him.

He and Rukia grew up together, staying side by side in the worst environments of the Rukongai District. They protected one another, helped each out, but they were separated in the Shin'o Academy when Byakuya found Rukia and adopted her.

Ever since then, Renji made a vow to himself that he would beat Byakuya. That he would become stronger and show it to him. He got his bankai by wanting to protect his friends, by wanting to save someone close to him. He wasn't going to let anyone stop him and he didn't, even after being defeated by Byakuya.

As the Soul Society Arc comes to end, you have that scene with Byakuya and Renji in the hospital room. Where the conversation goes as such,

"I assume you wish I was dead."

"Captain, I, I don't wish you dead. If you were dead, who would I look up to be stronger than and beat them?"

Emotion, meh heart.

Plus remember when Ichigo busted in the room through the window 😂😂

As the next arc starts, you get to see Renji change and develop as a character. And damn when he shows up in the full bringer arc. I was all like,

Who's that sexy motherfucker?

😂😂😂😂

But yeah, he did get hotter,

But not has hot as Byakuya 😍😍😍😍

Anyways, off topic.

Also I love his friendship with Ichigo. It's funny.
