“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!” I woke to the thundering noise of someone jumping wildly on my bed.
“Leave me alone,” I mumbled begging to be left in peace with the comfort of my pillow. Then I remembered him.
“I up!” I yelled startling Emma.
“My, my. He was gorgeous!” she said ecstatically.
“Who?”
“Andrew. His name is Andrew Cunningham. I went to the grocery store this morning to she that guy that you were talking about yesterday,” she said blushing.
“So, you talked to him?”
“Yes! He was so nice and sweet. And his eyes! Why didn’t you tell me that they were the most gorgeous shade of dazzling evergreen?”
Eyes, I thought to myself. Beautiful, and gorgeous, like shimmering pools of chlorine water.
“Alex!” My head whipped back up.
“Sorry, I’m just not thinking right this morning.”
“What morning? It’s one in the afternoon! Get dressed doll because we are going to the mall!”
My eyes moved to the clock on my beside table. Yup, it was 6 minutes to 1 pm. I honestly didn’t want to leave my new, comfy, king sized bed, but I knew that it had to be done.
Trudging into my bathroom, I was not surprised to see bags under my eyes, as always. I quickly put on some concealer and mascara to brighten my face and went with my glasses today. Quickly letting my long hair hang down loosely, I put on my clothes for the day that consisted of a lifeguard sweatshirt and black leggings. I needed to stay comfortable because it was raining outside, which I heard happens almost all of the time in England. But, nonetheless, I loved rain because it was calming for my busy lifestyle and it also helped me with my sleep.
“Ready Emma?” I said grabbing my cross body purse and stuffing the money and credit card that my parents gave me along with my phone.
“Coming!”
We walked out into the parking lot and got onto the bus. My car that my parents got me was still getting shipped here, but I didn’t mind.
We stopped at a furniture store first to get some extra things for our rooms since they only consisted of beds and two bedside tables. I ordered two white desks that were exactly the same for both sides of my room- one for my music compositions and the other for schoolwork. I also picked up a tan velvet throw for my bed because I liked to keep things simple as well as a small bookshelf since I couldn’t wait to start a new collection of novels to read since I had read all of mine at home at least five times. Emma got a desk as well, a beanbag chair, and a lot of decorative pillows. We also got a lot of curtains as well as kitchen appliances. All of these things were going to be delivered to our apartment later.
We then hit a lot of stores and got a piece of clothing after piece of clothing and quite a few kinds of shoes. We bought clothes for all sorts of occasions. I chose mine right away, but it was Emma who had a really hard time deciding between florals and sequins, which I found really funny.
Finally, we got home and started putting away all of the things that we bought as well as the things that were delivered to our apartment.
“I’m going to head out and try and find a pool at a gym around here”, I told Emma.
“Go ahead, I would love to go but I still have to color coordinate my closet and-“
“It’s okay, I be fine”, I said with a smile.
Walking into my room, I grabbed my Nike backpack and shoved my competitive suit, cap, and goggles and some extra cash because I might have to possibly make a membership. I grabbed a bottle of water from the kitchen on my way out.
Walking outside of the apartment, I breathed in the fresh, misty air. I quickly checked my phone and sure enough, there was a gym with a pool about seven blocks from where we lived. Also, it was in the same direction that the boy I bumped into yesterday was walking from. My heart started beating and my pace quickened.
When I reached the gym, I realized that it was quite deserted since it was already the evening. And that was just the way I liked it.
Walking up to the front desk, there was a really pretty girl with really curly blond hair and crystal blue eyes. Her name tag read “Madison”.
“Hi, welcome to Gold’s Gymnasium. Can I help you with something?” she asked cheerfully.
“Yes please. I’d like to open a membership for this year please.”
“Great! I can hear by your accent that you are probably new here in England am I right? By the way, my name is Madison.”
“I can see that,” I said, pointing to the name tag. “Nice to meet you. And yes, I am from New York. I just got here yesterday actually.”
“Oh that’s amazing! I have always wished to go there. Tell you what, do you want to maybe have some coffee tomorrow? I would really like to get to know you,” she said hopefully.
“That will be great! But I’m going to the Avicii rave tomorrow evening, so I’ll only have a short amount of spare time.” I really liked this girl, and I was hoping to make some friends in England anyways, I thought to myself.
“Oh, what a coincidence! I’m going there as well! Hopefully we can meet up. Here’s my number and I get that membership done for you right now.”
When I said goodbye to her later, I walked to the girl’s locker room to get changed. I put on my slimming black and green suit but kept my hair down. I washed of my small layer of makeup and walked out to the pool. I went to a lane, tied my hair and put on my cap and goggles.
Diving into the pool, I smiled to myself. I missed the water already. It was naturally and clearly a part of me. I started swimming all my strokes but by the end of my workout, I felt like I was being watched. And I wasn’t talking about the lifeguard that looked like he was bored out of his mind. Suddenly I heard the boy’s locker room slam shut. That, I told myself, was weird.
Later changed and with my hair dried, I walked out of the main entrance of the pool checking my phone to see if Emma texted me. And walked into a muscular body once again. Looking up, I was hypnotized by those pools in his eyes. And may I mention that HE WAS SHIRTLESS. Looking like a pale, gorgeous, muscular vampire. I wasn’t able to say anything. He just smiled at me again and walked into the pool, leaving me to stand there. Not daring to look back, I walked straight back home and went immediately to bed with his image in my mind.
