Eleven
Dustin, Lucas, and Will are laughing about something.

I'm not sure what it is, but then again, I'm not sure what many things are.

They all slept over at Mike's house, and had woken up early. Mike was still asleep, snoring gently. Mike and I slept in my basement fort, while they slept around it.

"El," Dustin whispers.

"El, come out here."

I gently throw back the quilt that covers me, being careful not to wake Mike, and crawl outside of the fort.

I sit down on the edge of Dustin's sleeping bag and tilt my head in curiosity.

"El, why don't we play a game," says Lucas.

I'm confused.

"What is... game?" I say.

"A game, it's a thing that you do with your friends, and it's really fun," Will explains.

I nod my head in understanding.

"So, do you want to play?" Asks Dustin.

I think for a second.

"Yes," I say.

"Good! Now, stay here while I get a pen."

Dustin jumps up from his sleeping bag, and goes to the table where they play D&D. He grabs a pen out of his "bag of holding", and runs back over to us. He kneels down on his sleeping bag.

"So, here's the game," he starts. "I'm going to write a name on your hand, and you can't look at that person until a certain time. If you look at that person before that time, you have to kiss them. Got it?"

I think I have it down. "Got it," I repeat.

"Great. Now, give me your hand."

Dustin holds out his hand, indicating that I should hold mine out too. I give him my hand.

Dustin clicks the pen and puts it on my hand. I jerk it back when he starts to write. It tickles.

"El , it will only last for a few seconds, I swear," Dustin says, chuckling.

I hesitate, but give my hand back to Dustin. I bite my lip to stop myself from cringing as he writes.

"There, all done," Dustin says.

I take my hand away from Dustin and look at the letters.

"M-I-K-E"  I sound out.

"Shh, you'll wake him," Lucas says pointing at Mike.

I turn to look at him, but Will grabs my arm.

"El, you can't look at him until the numbers on Mike's watch read 9:00 and the letters in the corner say p.m. If you look at Mike before than, you have to kiss him," he says.

I look at the watch. It reads 10:30 a.m.

Darn it.

"Okay,"I say.

Mike stirs in the tent, waking up completely. I keep my head down.

"I wish I could look at him," I think to myself.

Mike comes out of the fort.

"Good morning, guys," Mike says.

They all say good morning back in unison.
