Ello, mates! I'm in the mood to write a lot this week, so all of my stories get updates! Yay! I haven't got much to say here, so on with the story!
~Mitch's POV~
I look at the nurse in shock. "W-Wait. Adam might d-die?" I stutter. She nods sadly. "Thank you for telling me first. I don't think we should tell Jason yet." She nods in agreement, pushing open the door. We walk inside, and Jason looks up at us, smiling. "Jason, will you go out to the others? We have to talk to Adam about something." I say. Jason looks at me strangely. "But don't you need me to translate?" He asks. Dang. I didn't think about that. "Actually, one of the doctors works with deaf patients. She can translate for us." I look over to her, and she smiles. Jason nods in confusion, then he hugs Adam and wheels out of the room.
The nurse leaves as well, returning a minute later with a doctor. The doctor smiles. "Hello. This is Adam?" I nod. "Mr. Hughes, you may want to be next to your friend for this, I don't know how he will react." She says. I smile and sit next to a very confused Adam, who is most likely wondering where Jason went. He starts signing rapidly, and the doctor turns to me. "He is asking where Jason went. Who is that?" I laugh a little. "Jason is his 13-year-old adopted son. The nurse just sent him back to the lobby, where the rest of our friends are." The doctor signs my answer to Adam, who relaxes, then starts signing again. "He asked why Jason left." The doctor says. "Tell him that we have to tell him something important, and we didn't want Jason to know quite yet." She nods and signs. Adam looks at me worriedly, and I grab his hand. The nurse takes the clipboard and hands it to the doctor, who signs to Adam. Adam's face pales, and he pulls me into a hug, crying silently on my shoulder. "I'll leave you two alone." The doctor says, leaving the room. The nurse leaves soon after.
Adam continues crying, then he freezes. He opens his mouth and tries to speak, but nothing happens. Then he points to me and his mouth. "You want me to talk?" I say, even though he can't hear me. To my surprise, he nods. "You can hear me?" He nods again, and I hug him. "Adam..." I trail off, unsure. He shrugs and mimes writing on his hand. I run across the room and grab some paper and a pen, handing them to Adam. 'I think we should tell Jason, and the others. All at the same time.' The paper reads. "Yeah, I agree. What about the fans? The Yogscast?" He thinks for a minute. 'Invite Lewis and the guys over, we tell everyone then film a video. Say my muteness was caused by the cancer.' He writes. I smile. "Ready to go?" He nods and stands, handing me the paper and pen. I put them away and we walk outside.
~Jason's POV~
I hug Adam and leave the room. As soon as the door closes, I wheel quickly to the lobby and next to Ty, who is talking to Rachel and Lava. I start crying and he pulls me into a hug. "Jason, what happened?" Lava asks as Ty looks at my face. "T-The nurse took M-Mitch out in the h-hallway and t-told him s-something, and when t-they came back in, t-they made me l-leave." I say between tears. "Why did that make you cry?" Rachel asks, grabbing my hand. I take a deep breath to calm down a little. "Because they went to the trouble of getting a doctor to tell Adam something that they didn't want me to know. And when Mitch came back, he looked like he had seen a ghost. Ty, I'm scared that something bad happened to Adam." I say, hugging him tighter. The three stay completely quiet. Ty rubs circles in my back until I stop crying. Then Adam and Mitch appear, and my heart sinks. Because Adam has been crying, too.
Mitch wordlessly gets us all in the car, and he is silent the entire way back. When we get home, he grabs his phone and calls Lewis. "Lewis, get down here right now. We have some important news. Bring Hannah, Rythian and Zoey, Martyn and Toby, Kaeyi, and Tom." He says. He listens for a minute, then closes his phone. Adam is sitting next to me, face pale, and staring off into space sadly. "Adam..." I say quietly. To my surprise, Adam turns to me. "Adam, can you hear me?" I ask. He nods. I hug him happily. "Guys! Adam can hear again!" I exclaim. Everyone is excited, other than Mitch. I notice that he still looks sad, even more so now. I hear a knock on the door, and Jerome goes to answer it, revealing the Yogs that Mitch requested. They come into the room and sit down, many of them on the floor. I notice that Toby goes and sits next to Lucy, and she blushes slightly. Hmmm...
After everyone is seated, Mitch stands and walks over to Adam, standing on his other side from me. Adam stays seated, but Mitch starts to talk. "We have some good news and bad news to share with you. The good news, some of us know. The bad news, you know half of. Anyways, the good news is that Adam has regained his hearing." The Yogs cheer a little, and Adam smiles, taking my hand. Mitch clears his throat. "And the bad news. Adam had a seizure a few months ago, and we thought nothing of it. He had another one today, and the doctors ran some tests on him. Jason and I were aloud to see him, and a nurse pulled me outside to tell me some very sad news. We agreed not to tell Jason just yet, so I sent him back to the lobby while we told Adam. Adam decided that we would tell you guys together, and then make a video for his fans. Basically, they discovered what causes Adam's seizures. They scanned his brain while he was unconscious, and found some tumors. Adam has brain cancer."
Gasps ripple through the group. Ali and Jimmy hug, crying on each other. Jerome, Ian, and Quentin stand, frozen, taking in the information. Lava and Ty are still as well, tears running down their faces, and holding hands. Toby and Lucy are both crying and being comforted by Martyn and Kaeyi. Rythian is wearing a sad expression as he hugs Zoey. Lewis and Tom are on their phones, calling the other Yogs with the news. And Rachel and Adam holding my hands tightly, watching my reaction. I sit completely still as I process the information. Then, when it finally hits me, I break into tears. Rachel releases my hand and Adam pulls me into a hug, and I cry into his chest. I realize that I am the only one making any noise, so I look up. Everyone is looking at me and Adam sadly, and I know why.
"Adam, will you die?" I ask, hiccupping. He shrugs. "We don't know. He may die, he may live. He starts chemo in a few days." Mitch says. I look up at my friend, my best friend, who became my dad. He is my dad, he saved me when my parents left me. "Adam, what happens to me if you die? Jimmy and Ali have Jimmy's parents, Ty and Ian have their parents still. But you are my only parent. W-Will I have to go back to the orphanage?" Adam doesn't even move. I cry more, and Mitch puts a hand on my shoulder. "I'm 19. If Adam... doesn't make it, I'll adopt you. You will never go to an orphanage again." I smile through my tears and hug Mitch. "Thanks, bro." I say, making him smile. "Anytime. I'll never let you go back there." I can't help but think about my short stay at the orphanage. I wonder what happened to Erica...
