I opened my eyes slowly. Every inch of my body felt groggy and heavy. What the hell happened?
I remembered drinking with Oliver, then seeing Helen rub his back.
Helen. That bitch.
I glanced around the room slowly, it was dark, but I could see the outline of certain things. I moved myself forward but was shot back. My wrists and ankles were braced against a plate of wood, a large metal strap was slung over my chest, forcing me to stay down.
I screamed, pulling hard against the chains, "HEY! SOMEBODY! MADDI! XAVIER! HELP!"
I could hear someone laugh as the lights were flicked on. I squinted, trying to push myself to see through the blinding light.
Helen stood in front of me, over her red dress was a long white lab coat. Her hair was tied up elegantly in a bun, gloves glistening on her hands as she placed a hand on my stomach, "Hello my dear."
I glared, hauled back, and spit in her face.
She laughed, wiping it off with the glove and slapping me as hard as she could across my face. I yelled, my eyes beginning to water.
"Watch yourself, I've got control of you now."
I shut my eyes tight before looking at her again. That's when I realized what was really going on. Elisa was still curled up in her cage on the floor, but behind her was much more. Maddi and Sylvie were chained up side by side, staring at me with wide eyes, their mouths gagged. Across from them was Chira, she was face down on the floor, breathing, but not responding. Beside Chira was Xavier, his wrists locked to the wall, he was sitting on his knees, staring at me, tears falling down his face as he tried to chew through the gag.
Helen laughed, "See what you've done? Because you came back, all of your friends have to pay for it."
I watched Xavier, tears falling down my face as I tried to pull myself free, "Stop it. STOP IT!"
Helen laughed louder, walking around me and placing a few sticky cords over my chest and arms. Oliver stepped forward out of the dark corner, a smirk planted firmly on his face as he helped Helen place the cords around me.
"YOU BASTARD!"
Oliver's smirk grew larger as he pulled a table over. A monitor flicked on as they linked the cords to it.
"What are you doing? Stop!"
Helen pulled out a small oval shaped tool, covering it in gel. I instantly recognized it as I had gone for ultrasounds before. But why?
She lifted my shirt, staring intently into my eyes as she rubbed it along my stomach, "You better pray you're not girl."
I shook my head, "I can't be. There's no way. I'm on the pill."
Oliver watched the monitor as he traced his fingers over the screen, "But your pills were in your luggage, you haven't taken them since you arrived here."
I could feel the tears falling down my face, "Please no."
I watched as Oliver's face went from blank to concerned, "Helen. Look."
Helen glanced over, her lips parted slightly as her eyes narrowed. She ran over to the monitor, grabbing it and throwing it across the room, "You fucking bitch! Oliver you said you would be careful! Now look what we have to deal with!"
I looked at Xavier, "PLEASE XAVIER HELP ME."
He shut his eyes, sobbing heavily as he tried to push the gag out of his mouth. He was pulling as hard as he could on the restraints, clenching his fists.
