Chapter 4

CATHERINE’S POV

Today was the day of the concert and meet and greet. Today was the day that I got to meet the five boys who saved me from complete insanity. I woke up early because of my excitement. I rolled over to check my phone, glancing at the clock that read that it was only eight o’clock. I texted Paige and Jane asking what time they’d be here to pick me up before getting in the shower. I let the warm water overtake my nerves and anxieties about the events that lie ahead. After showering, I changed into sweats and a t-shirt since Paige let me know that they would be here around noon. I dried and straightened my hair, letting it fall to the middle of my back. I waited to do my makeup as it got closer to twelve.

I headed down the stairs to see my brother watching early morning cartoons on some kids’ channel. It was Saturday morning, which meant my mom was making a big breakfast. I made my way to the fridge, grabbing the carton of orange juice, pouring myself a small glass. I could barely think of eating a thing right now because of my nerves. I’m not sure why they were so bad, I just knew I had to relax or I was going to stress myself out and mess up my day. My mom finished making pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. I grabbed a few pieces of bacon off of the plate before she noticed. My brother came running into the kitchen as soon as my mother said breakfast was done. We all made plates, mine barely having much on it, and sat at the table.

“So, sweetie, are you excited?” my mom asked smiling.

“Very, but I’m so nervous,” I said moving the eggs on my plate around.

“Don’t be nervous. You’ll have so much fun. Do you have enough money for everything?”

“I think so. I’m taking my credit card too in case I run out of cash.”

“Okay, good. Are you spending the night at Jane’s?”

“I think so. I’ll let you know late when I find out.”

“Okay. I also want you to call me when you get to the arena and when you get out of the concert so I know you’re okay.”

“Okay, mom,” I said rolling my eyes as I got up and put my now empty plate in the sink.

“Do you know what you’re wearing?” she asked taking her dish to the sink too.

“I have an idea, but I was just going to plan everything out. I’ll be back down in a little while.”

            “Alrighty!” she sang cheerily.

My relationship with my mom was always great. Sure, we had some arguments, which happened with everyone. My mom was my best friend. I could tell her everything, and she wouldn’t get upset unless it was something extremely bad, which it never was. I always got good grades and stayed out of trouble, even though she knew that I drank occasionally. She was full of great advice, and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her strong presence in my life.

I smiled thinking about one, how exciting today was going to be, and two, how much I loved my mom. Once I reached my room, I opened my closet. I pulled out a shirt that I had that had all of Harry’s tattoos on it. I’d wanted to wear that for a while, but never found the chance, yet today was perfect. I found my high-waisted shorts that had lace on the pockets. I dug through the bottom of my closet searching for my white Converse. I couldn’t decide between them or my black Vans. I tried it all on and decided with the white Converse, they felt more comfortable. After getting dressed, I made my way into the bathroom, sitting my phone on its speaker, blasting my One Direction playlist on shuffle. The first song to ring through the room was Kiss You. I sang along while getting my makeup out of its certain drawer.
